Liked: The old building/house was beautiful and cozy, the atmosphere, the view, the neigbourhood were all great.

Disliked: We had a room which smelled muggy, like the room wasn't used for a long time and the bed was soft and smell like old urine.

Liked: the bathroom was decent and the owner was helpful with what to do in rio.

Disliked: the uncleanliness of the room. i took a peak at the other rooms that the other people stayed in and their rooms were so much nicer than mine. i believe i just got the short end of the stick and paid too much money for the room i stayed in.

Liked: Situated in the quiet area of Santa Teresa which ensured a good sleep every night. Breakfast on the terrace was beautiful. Staff were exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful with arranging trips to Copacabana, Ipanema, Christo Redentor and Sugar loaf mountain.

Disliked: Access by foot is taxing due to the very steep cobblestoned roads leading to it.

Liked: It was very cheap! and I also liked the location in Santa Theresa, a really lovely little bohemian neighbourhood away from the tackiness of Copacabana. Went out in Lapa to a samba club on Saturday night which was amazing! The staff are really helpful although ones english was pretty bad.

Disliked: It was run down and our room had a slight smell of urine. However, the bed was v comfortable, a kitchen is provided and it is soooooooooooooo cheap!

Liked: At first when I arrived, I thought that maybe I had booked a hostel too far away from anything, but as the days went on, I changed my opinion. The hostel is in walking distence to the cable car around Santa Teresa, the buses into town / Copacabana and the beaches /Christ the Reedemer and other locations. Very quiet at night, and relaxing. If you are after a party hostel, this isn't for you, but if you want to relax and recharge, then choose this hostel!

Liked: Great price, breakfast was really good. Paul is knowledgeable and helpful. Not a bad place to stay if you don't mind a little extra effort getting to some of the more touristy parts of Rio.

Liked: We were here for a citytrip of eight nights and we were more than satisfied. The neighbourhood of Santa Theresa is charming with several bars and restaurants on walking distance. The bus wil take you to centro (city center) within 10 minutes. Copacabana can be reached by bus within 30 minutes. If you are looking for a charming place and a good night sleep with a warm and personal touch of the owner, don't look any further! For us, it was like staying with friends or family! Thank you for everything Paul! We will come back definitely! An & Mein from The Netherlands.

Liked: we like that the accomadtion is good for a cheap price (the two combined a rare find in Rio). We had our own kitchen whihc was good, seen as the main kitchen was quite poor. The deck is nice, and you can put your own music on a chill out. Nice fresh breakfast too. Paul the owner is very helpful, dishing out lots of information and advice on Rio!

Liked: The location was diappointing for us as we thought it would only take 10 mins to get to the beach & it was a 15min walk then a 20 min bus journey. The price was reasonable for Rio which is very expensive for accommodation but we expected a nicer room for our money & a cleaner one (lots of huge ants !!)

Liked: Just a fantastic place to stay,10 minutes by bus or tram from the start of downtown but a world away. The area surround is a sedate beautiful area and a real community. Plenty of choice of bars and eating places and a lovely area to walk around . Paul is an excellent host and former traveller himself who understands the needs of his guests and provides all the help and local knowledge anyone could need .This place provided a perfect end to my travels in South America.

Liked: We really enjoyed our time here. Very warm and friendly reception by Paul and the rest of the staff at Villa Leonor. The pousada is in a very safe neighbourhood of Rio with good transport links (buses and trams) to the centre/beaches. Paul is a great source of information about Rio and let us know what events were on every night. He took us to a Samba party which only the locals would have known about and it was a great night out. There was also a barbecue on another evening which was a nice way of meeting other people. Rooms are fairly simple but clean, and a lovely breakfast (inc fresh fruit) is served out on the patio with spectacular views of the city. Also a great place to (finally) have a good nights sleep! Highly recommend Villa Leonor for a cosy, personable and relaxing stay in cool, bohemian Santa Teresa. Fara (London)

Liked: Paul was so lovely! He really went out of his way to help us out and give us information. The room we booked was described as a 3 person dorm but was more like an apartment, but at around the same price.It´s a 15 minute walk to the heart of Lapa with lots of places to party.The view is really nice too.Definately recommend it to others
