Liked: Historical place, close to the beach and subway, the pool, the staff at the desk are helpful and nice, wifi internet, TV room.

Disliked: Some maintenance staffs appear lazy, sleeping on the guests couch while bathrooms and floors continue to get dirty or messy. My bath towels didn't get changed until I asked twice which made me suspect my bed sheets never got changed then. However, they are very nice and helpful when addressed.

Liked: Very nice place. Great outside bar with even a small swimming pool, hammocks, beds, and a pool table, and nice music in the evening. Only 1 dorm room, the other rooms are private. I think its very good value for money

Disliked: no lights for each bed in the dorm, only a big light for the entire room.

Liked: Fast wifi, hot (!) showers, funky decor

Disliked: Some staff were unpleasant and more concerned with providing their friends with a BBQ than assisting other guests. Kitchen is "not for guests", but we were allowed to borrow a plate "just this time, on the condition that we cleaned it after". Told them to stick it. Wifi is free but have to pay for PC usage.

Liked: This hostel is a nice place for a stay in Rio, close to Ipanema Beach and the restaurants and bars around. Nice lounge area with TV, good breakfast and a small pool.

Disliked: I was a little bit disapointed about the way staff is treating the guests. No smile at check in, no friendly word at breakfast and almost no attention. Even no city map...in Rio??? Also rooms and bath rooms were not really clean. Most of the time there was no toilet paper and the water stands in the shower. But all in one you can have a fun stay at Bonita Ipanema, as I did.

Liked: Great hostel with nice clean rooms, a nice breakfast and fast wifi........in a great location close to the beach and bars and restaurants. For a girl travelling alone, I felt safe walking to and from the hostel at night.

Liked: I dont know if its as descirbed on website but...a. the english speaking girls on reception were fantastic as well as the young night porter but a. when one of the girls went off duty, one of the night porters was not able to set me up on the internet, and when I complained he just looked helplessly at other guests as but after all that, I got set up by someone else who came on duty later with no problem but it was only 11 pm and they say internet is available and it was not also b. the rooms are extremely hot and airless, I had to get a night porter to chisel a window open as I would have probably almost suffocated in there otherwise and others seem to have had similar airless rooms...in the end it was ok but only when window was open luckily no mosquitoes around, as if it was in Buenos Aires youd be eaten alive even with insect repellent! c. the kitchen is not available for use by travellers normally so it s like a hostell where you cant use the kitchen....otherwise it was fine! ps I think Hostelbookers needs to change its rating system, as it does not say anything about the room and the comfort thereof. Using this rating system makes this hostel look quite good whereas there are lots of improvements needed.

Liked: Girls will love. It's a delicately decorated and pick hostel, with a good public space: big bed-coaches, pool tables, TVs, even mini swimming pools. The staff are extremely helpful. The location is super good, 2 blocks to the beach. Watch out the post boards in the hostel. It has a lot of short travel trips or events, like Samba, Sky Diving, 1 day trip to the suger loaf & Christ, etc. For a back packer, especially travelling alone, joining this group is convenient and safe. Don't need to bother much, and can spend more time on the beach!

Liked: the staffs are awesome, and most of them speak fluent english, which is very helpful if you dont speak local language. They also love to help you with any questions. the facilities are really awesome too, big tv with satellite tv channels at the common area is a great way to relax after a day of travelling.

Liked: Fantastic hostel. Rooms were big and clean, showers were really nice and hot. The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable, even helping phone bus companies to help us. Superb location, 2 minutes from the beach.
