Liked: super helpful and friendly English speaking staff. Franklin the owner even cooked us dinner one night. Bonus that wifi worked in dorms.

Disliked: the living room is a touch shabby but that is about all

Liked: Had A/C, the owner, franklin, was such a nice and helpful dude. has lots of DVD films.

Disliked: small, breakfast lacks basic stuff, kitcken is tiny and not very good. feels very..basic, while the price they charge is extremly high in my opinion. me and my friends could not afford to stay there more than 2 night..

Liked: Eventhough the New Ipanema is not in perfect shape it has soul! The guys are really relaxed and make you laugh. They were helpful and friendly. They suggested favela tour and if you are in Rio you should definitly go with Colin. Just ask Franklin in the hostel and he will arrange everything for ya. While waiting, Scott will make you perfect capirinha. Enjoy Rio. Rok&Lili

Liked: A personal feel to the hostel, not too big with an excellent clean bathroom. The owner Franklin was great aswell. An easy going guy who personally introduced himself & was very helpful trying to arrange any trips I wanted to do. Cheap beers aswell!

Disliked: The hostel had lockers which is good but they are downstairs & it would be better to have them in the dorm rooms and although fairly comfortable, the mattresses on the beds could be newer. These things would NOT stop me though from staying at the hostel again.

Liked: It was very welcoming and a great place to meet people, especially if travelling alone. Intended on stayng 3 nights, ended up spednding a week!

Liked: The hostel is fantastic. It provides a perfect hostile experience for the common backpacker... facilities are good and kept up well.... the staff and owner (Franklin) are as accomadating as could be.... it has an extremely laid back atmosphere.... and its really easy here to meet fellow travelers. The only hostel I have been in that serves a good breakfeast from 9 to noon, and they also assist you with anything you need as far as tours, local info, etc. Would very much recommend this hostel to just about any type of traveler as it has quiet rooms, as well as a good party atmosphere, so you get the best of both worlds. Would definitely come back any time I am in Rio!

Disliked: The only thing I would have to complain about is that outside they make you go inside the hostel around 10:00 p.m, but it really is not a big deal since people just end up hanging outside the gate or inside the hostel.

Liked: True to say the locality is good & safe, from what we can tell.. The hostel is quite small but not over crowded. Kitchen facilities not great. Good Breakfast on offer. Room was fine ( double) .

Liked: This hostel was quite expensive relative to the hostels located in the same alleyway in ipanema with little more to offer. Security was poor, with only a very small locker available in the common area and no room keys. The kitchen was very small only allowing one person to cook at a time and had very little utensils.

Liked: The staff were all friendly and helpful and I could meet many nice people from all over the world.However, the room was dirty and the bed was uncomfortable. There were only 3 bathrooms and one bathroom was not even working. We have to share 2 bathrooms for both men and women. Bathrooms were also dirty. The breakfast was always the same - ham, cheese and bread. The only good things were the location, the stuff and i could use a computer at the hostel.
