Liked: Very friendly and helpful staff who was never tired to explain over and over again how to get around in rio. Even if its not centrally located in Santa Teresa, there is an amazing view to Christo Redentor and Sugarloaf from the common area and the roof terrasse! You have good connections to buses, collectivos and the Bonde tram: They offer an exceptionally good breakfast!

Disliked: Its a bit of a walk to Santa Teresa centre or you have to take a bus. There are shared sanitary facilities.

Liked: It is located in Santa Theresa with amazing views of Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf and the whole city with roof deck and picture windows. The hostel is really beautiful and peaceful, and is basically a large house in the hills. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's like staying at a bed and breakfast.

Disliked: The location is a bit difficult to get in and out of as it requires a combi up and down the hill to the metro station. It's worth it if you'd like a place tucked away from the hustle of Copacabana. Also, a good place if you want to see restaurants and shops in Santa Theresa.

Liked: The common areas in the hostel were absolutely amazing, views of Rio to die for, friendly staff who made the guests feel very welcome and at home. The dorm rooms were simple, but large without that crowded feeling, and the main dorm had a walk in wardrobe so you could get ready and pack your bag without disturbing any sleeping guests!

Liked: The location, the amazing view to christo and sugar loaf and the arty style of this hostel... And definitely the breakfast, I haven`t had such a big a healthy breaki for a long time.

Liked: Feeding monkeys at breakfast time. Catching the combi's and tram down the hill. Stunning views from rooms and top deck. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff.

Liked: The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. We were made to feel at home straight away. The location is 10 mins from Santa Teresa and 10 mins from the nearest metro station, which is more convenient than we had first thought. The room was spacious and funky, but the best thing is the roof terrace and it's spectacular rooms.

Disliked: The breakfast was your average coffee, cake, fruit etc, but coming from Pousada Hanalei in Itacare, which had the most incredible breakfast of anywhere I have ever stayed, it was a tough comparison!

Liked: Casa 579 was the best hostel I stayed at while in Brazil. The staff was outgoing, kind, and extremely helpful. Rooms and bathroom were immaculate, and breakfast was terrific. The views from the terrace were amazing: The Corcovado, Sugarloaf mountain, Urca, and the bay were all priceless views. Less than 100 feet from the hostel up the street was a restaurant called "Gauchos" which was very inexpensive and provided big portions.A combi (small van for 2 reals) would stop outside the hostel and take you to a metro stop where you could travel quickly and inexpensively to all the main sights

Liked: This hostel is located off the tourist trap of Copacabana in a real Rio neighborhood. It has the best views of any hostel I have stayed with panoramic views of Sugarloaf and Crist the Redeemer from the room and also from their amazing rooftop patio. The hostel is run like a tight ship and very well organized as far as staff and is exeptionally clean. It is the only hostel I have been where they actually make your bed for you every day. The other selling point is the breakfast which has many wonderful fruits, fresh juices, coffee, cakes, breads, toast and cheese, ham and hard boiled eggs. It is the type of place where you can relax all day and not feel guilty about not going into the city, but at the same time they have many great activites to participate in. Feels like staying with friends. We will definately be back.

Liked: An excellent hostel, really good staff and our room was simply awesome! we had a twin with a prive balcony! amazing views of rio and of Christ the Redeemer! Defianately recommend this place 5 star!
