Terms & Conditions
Currency Exchange Rate
We require payment on arrival. Please note that the actual total will be calculated by the hostel in its local currency, based on the currency exchange rate (if applicable) in effect at the time charging occurs.

Cancellation Policy
50% deposit is required to confirm and guarantee your reservation; the remainder is due on arrival at the hostel.
Deposits are non-refundable for cancellations made 72 hours or less in advanced of your scheduled arrival time. It will remain under the hostel’s discretion to refund deposits for booking changes made within the 72 hours period prior to arrival.

Changes after arrival
For changes on bookings after arrival, the subsequent period of 72 hours will not be refunded.

No Shows
In the case of “no shows”, deposits will not be refunded and the full amount for the transfer will be charged to the customer. Please note that any cancellations must be notified directly to the hostel at least 72 hours in advance of your scheduled arrival time.

Misti Chill Packages
* We require 50% to be paid in advance. If you book through a booking engine (i.e. 10% deposit) the difference to complete the 50% should be paid directly to the hostel.
* Cancellations for New Year?s Packages:
Cancellations can be made before November 30th with a 100% refund of the total amount. After that date the amount that has been already paid will not be refunded.
* Cancellations for Carnival Packages:
Cancellations can be made before December, 31st with a 100% refund of the total amount. After that date the amount that has been already paid will not be refunded.
Even if the booking engine allows you to book less nights at the normal rate, for the Carnival and New Year's Packages, your booking will not be valid if you do not book the whole package.
Bookings for New Year or Carnival must be for the whole period of the package, any booking that breaks into the New Year's or Carnival dates will be automatically canceled and the deposit amount not refunded. You will be immediately contacted about the payment from the whole package.

Free Transfer
Misti Chill Hostel offers you a free pick up upon your arrival in Paraty from the bus station to our hostel.
Please note that in case of delays, it is the passenger responsibility to inform Misti Chill Hostel about the new arrival time.
In case the passenger has not informed our staff about the delay, Misti Chill Hostel will not be responsible for the transfer charge. The passenger will be held responsible for the total amount of the transfer in.
If the passenger did not arrive at all, then the full cost of the transfer will be charged to the customer.
This free transfer service is offered between 9.00 am to 10.00 pm.
In case you require a transfer outside this schedule, we offer you the possibility of booking it with us at a rate of R$ 15.-

Over-bookings
For reservations guaranteed with a 50% deposit or more at time of booking, rooms are held until hostel check-out time the day following arrival.
In the event more guests arrive than can be accommodated due to hostel overbooking or an unforeseen circumstance, and the hostel is unable to hold rooms consistent with booking room hold policy, the hostel will attempt to accommodate guests, at its expense, at a comparable hostel in the area for the oversold night(s), and will pay for transportation to that hostel.

Improvements
In our strive to improve and upgrade our facilities to satisfy all our guests, Misti Chill Hostel sometimes undergoes refurbishment work in some parts of the hostel. We do our best to ensure guests will not be affected by the renovations but please beware of the latter possibility.

Events in Paraty
Paraty is a major cultural destination and host to several festivals. These are some of the more interesting and exciting events:

January: “Reveillon”, NewYear is the most popular event in Paraty with a wonderful display of parties, fireworks, bands and more.
Folia de Reis (Traditional local Party): In Paraty, Folia de Reis starts December 8, day of Our Lady of Conception, and ends January 20. During this period groups of guitar players and singers gather to recite traditional Portuguese poetry.
February: Paraty's version of Carnival is much more traditional, less crowded and set in a utopian environment. It is closer to Venice's version than Rio's. In Carnival, masked blocos (carnival groups) along with children and adults in fancy dress and effigies of famous personalities parade through the city.
July: Paraty International Literary Festival - FLIP. During the party, national and foreign writers submit their books and theories to the public as well as participate in meetings reserved for discussions between the writers.
September: Paraty in Focus: International festival of photography with different workshops, exhibitions and samples.
October: Paraty International Film Festival: directors, actors and public from Brazil and abroad meet in Paraty to enjoy the best of local and foreign cinema.
November: Gastronomy Party in Paraty: Come and taste special dishes created by local chefs during the whole month of November and also from chefs from different Brazilian states that will come to Paraty for this event. Black Culture meeting: Black music, memory and poetry.

New Years’ Eve 2010, “Reveillon” in Paraty
New Year's Eve in Colonial Paraty is celebrated in a very special way. New Year's Eve is considered the third most important event in the city's touristic calendar, second only to the International Literary Festival and Carnival.
Hundreds of people, almost everyone clad in white, get together at the prefect natural scenery of Praia do Pontal, to bid farewell to the year that finishes and toast for the coming one in a peaceful and harmonic ambience.
And it is also celebrated at other beaches of the district. Some of the bay islands also promote some special events that provide an eve full of attractions.
In the sky you can enjoy the fireworks scheduled for 12 am while in the sand beach, the devotees set offerings for Iemanja, the sea goddess. As the New Year comes, hope is rebirth creating a magical, unforgettable and exciting moment. One of tourist’s favourite moments in Paraty.
In order to celebrate the coming of the New Year, some hotels and restaurants organize amazing parties that summon both locals and Brazilians and foreign visitors alike. To toast, they offer champagne glasses and special menus. There are also some parties held at travel and private boats in the Paraty bay.
