Liked: Hostel Miran, is perhaps one of the most memorable hostels we have stayed in. Due to its genuine and unforgettable hospitality. Although it offers it self as a hostel, room are spread across the small town – we were fortunate enough to be given beds in Mirans family home. Small little extras, like being lent slippers so our feet didn’t get cold and being made tea first thing in the morning. Miran’s younger brother leads walking tours through Mostar, for a small price, giving a real insight into what life was like growing up in a war-zone. Despite traveling on a budget we decided to go on this walking tour and were very glad we did. It certainly gave a new perspective on the town.

Disliked: Remembering it was a family home, and so this was how everyone lived – it’s difficult to find something to complain about. However there wasn’t any hot water to wash with. As people were given different places to stay, this also made it difficult to mix with other backpackers. However this was at low-season and it may be different in the summer.

Liked: - free pickup; maps and tee on arrival; - pretty close to the old town (about 800-900 meters). Although, the rest of hosting options seems to be not far away from the center as well.

Disliked: - We booked double room. But instead of this we ended up in dorms. Owner didn't try to solve the problem but rather tried to convince us that dorms should be called a double room if there are only 2 people staying. wtf? Besides, at the end of communication owner started being aggressive. Frankly, not the best experience. - the only furniture available is 6 beds. very spartan alike. - toilet is located on another floor. shared by don't know how many people. - noise. it's a construction site currently. so prepare for drilling, hammering, etc. I'm sure it won't be forever but for the next few month it could be a strong concern;

Liked: This hostel was very clean and felt safe. We were only a few minutes walk to the center of the city, and Miran and his family were very hospitable. He gives you a map with suggestions of where to go and I highly recommend his tour where he gives a fantastic overview of the war. This was a great find and definitely worth the price!

Disliked: We did not initially realize that he has multiple locations so do not be alarmed if when you arrive to check in, he will drive you to another flat.

Liked: Great hostel, Miran and his wife treat you wonderfully. The hostel is between the train/bus station and the old town, but everything is reachable by foot (even with backpacks). If you have a spare day in your holiday, I would definitely recommend staying an extra night in Mostar and doing Miran's tour, it was the highlight of my whole trip through the Balkans.

Liked: Miran and his family were the most welcoming hosts I think I've ever met. You couldn't find another hostel where people are more willing to help you and make your stay as comfortable and interesting as possible. I can't recommend this hostel enough.

Liked: It's very good located, very close from the bus/train station and not far away from the old town. I got picked up by Mirans wife, she and Miran were very helpfull and friendly. I did the day tour to the Kravice waterfalls and other interesitng places (Pocitelj, Blagaj, Medjugorje) Miran offered. That was a fantastic tour, Miran did it with us although we were just 2 people, thanks to that. It's very interesting to listen to Mirans stories, also about the war. He also offers a war tour. Unfortunately there was not enough time for me to do this tour as well. There is a computer with Internet for free use and a small kitchen area in the hostel. Everything was very clean.

Disliked: There were no lockers for valuables, even no keys to lock the door of your room. The hostel is maybe difficult to find on your own, there should be a hostel sign at the entrance.

Liked: Had a great stay at Miran's Hostel. His brother picked us up at the bus station and guided us to the hostel on foot, it's a 5 minute walk only. Miran gave us good advice on what to see in Mostar. He's a super friendly laid-back bloke with loads of interesting stories. Wish we stayed longer!

Disliked: Nothing, great value for money

Liked: Basic accommodation with a very friendly host. I wish we had time to do the war tour he puts on. Easy walk to the old town and very close to the bus station with a guide to meet you on arrival which is very helpful.

Disliked: No airconditioning and only 1 shower for the whole place.

Liked: The best part of staying here is the hospitality of Miran and his family. My friend and I were met at the bus station (we came on the early bus from Dubrovnik, Croatia) by Miran's brother and accompanied to the hostel. On arrival, Miran provided us with maps, suggestions of what to see and where to eat, and the option to participate in two tours he personally runs around Mostar - one to educate travellers about Mostar during the war and the other to visit some spectacular natural sites around the area. We did the 3 hour war tour, for 10 euros per person, and really benefited from Miran's personal insights and anecdotes as we toured the city on foot with a small group. Atmosphere here is great - excellent for lone travellers keen to meet people as everyone gathers round in the evening for a beer and a chat.

Disliked: There was sometimes a queue for the bathrooms but for 10 euros per person per night, we didn't expect luxury.

Liked: We had a brilliant stay at hostel Miran. Miran himself clearly wanted to do all he could to ensure you made the most out of Mostar, he arranged his own tour, which outside of the hostel would have cost a lot more, going to the waterfalls, old roman town, and a beautiful spring, which turned out to be one of my favourite days of my whole trip of europe. On top of this we learnt much about the war from his own life experiences. His wife is lovely and hospitable forever offering tea and coffee! Very warm stay here. I wasn't expecting the hostel to be like part of their house, but after spending time there, Miran says you will feel at home, and we did!

Liked: Pretty central location. A computer where you could use internet.

Disliked: Hard to find if you were trying to get there on your own. Nowhere to lock up your valuables. Only one bathroom for the whole hostel, which did cause some waiting around.

Liked: This place was the best hostel out of the eight i visited on my trip to the Balkans. The people at the hostel was so nice and helpful. Good and clean rooms, pick-up service. It's a very small city, so every location is good. Would surely recommend this place to everyone.

Disliked: Not really anything. The daytrip to the countryside was nice, though a bit expensive compared to the normal prices in the country (costs the same as two nights at the hostel).
