Liked: In spite it was quite close to Gent Dampoort train station, it was a bit hard to find proper boat parked at the canal.However the hostel inside is good and comfortable. And in a walking distance from the main sites in the center.

Liked: It was unique as we had not stayed on a converted barge before. Nice comfy bed and good size room. Clean bathroom.Cute little dog.

Liked: Excellent value for money. Staying on a barge offered something a bit different. The rooms were really well-equipped and were en-suite, I wasn't expecting this as it wasn't mentioned in the booking, so it was an added bonus. Breakfast was really reasonably priced and offered an excellent selection. Not right in the centre (obviously as it's moored on a canal) but only a very short walk. Staff were incredibly friendly. I'd definitely stay here again myself and would recommed it to anyone else.

Liked: Lovely place, but it's placed in the middle of an industrial area, away from everything. You can walk to it from the city centre but in the night it scares a little. The room and the bathroom are nice and very clean. Erika (the owner) is really helpful and she speaks a little spanish.Recomended

Liked: We don't usually give ratings unless our stay was spectacular, which this one was. Jan and Erica were fantastic hosts; we almost felt like family there. We haven't slept this well (especially while travelling) in some time. If/when we are ever in Ghent again, I can't imagine staying anywhere else.

Liked: Amazingly helpful patrons...went far out of they're way to make us welcome and our trip enjoyable, and gave excellent local recommendations. It felt like a home from home, with the deck and living/dining/bar areas. Breakfast was amazing -it's worth going for. The rooms were of 4 star quality -v.peaceful, air conditioned, en suite, fresh towels, etc. (I've stayed in far worse 3/4 star hotels!). Add to that the novelty of staying on a canal boat (though you wouldn't know it from the inside, besides the water views from the windows!)Only issue was the immediate location (industrial area), though it is v.close walk/cycle to the city centre, and felt v.safe.Overall, I would definitely recommend staying at the Bon Vivant!

Liked: Very frienly and helpful owners. Only a few minutes from the centre of gent. Nice rooms and a funny little dog!
