Liked: good location with decent facilities

Disliked: unnecessarily stringent check in and check out times with unfriendly staff. Rooms are also small and cramped.

Liked: Desk workers were very helpful, and the hostel overall was very clean. It was nice to have 2 sinks in the room, and even though the bathrooms were shared, i never had a problem finding an open one. The beds were big and used regular mattresses, not the thin/small ones like a lot of places have. Kitchen and lounge area was nice, and wifi access worked well. Location is good.. it's not exactly in the center of everything, but its a 5 minute walk to the metro and a 10-15 min walk to the Grand Place, which is perfectly fine with me.

Disliked: Lounge/kitchen/reception closed at 11, so after then there's really no way to meet people.

Liked: I loved the vibrant common room and the location- close enough to walk from the North station and to the Grand Place, as well as to the subway stations to get around town. The rooms were comfortable (I was in a 6 bed dorm) and I liked that you got fresh sheets at check-in.

Disliked: The fact that reception was closed until 7:30 am could have been a problem if I needed something before leaving early, but thankfully I didn't have any difficulties checking out.

Liked: Decent location and free internet computers

Disliked: They make you pay in cash if your booking is under €200. This is the 21st century, accept credit cards people. The stairs are steep, and while I don't have an issue with this it could be a pain for some.

Liked: Excellent location in the center of Brussels.

Disliked: No air conditioning and the room got uncomfortably hot.

Liked: VERY comfortable beds, clean, good location

Disliked: Reception area lockout during most busy time-1pm-4pm... Made planning our days arrival/exits very hard, not many toilets per floor (although there were more downstairs) and I didn't get a hot shower

Disliked: room needed airing, but if you opened the window the outside airconditioning unit was quite loud

Liked: Free computers and internet, rooms have nice character.

Disliked: Lots of beds in the room, beds are loud creaky flimsy metal so you hear everytime someone moves and it almost fell over when I tried to climb up top.

Liked: Facilities were fairly good. (Note: I did stay there at the end of a long trip, so the fact it was close by and a comfortable place to stay pretty much did me!)

Disliked: The luggage room appeared somewhat insecure in that everyone had access to it - would have recommended staff only, perhaps. Opening hours were also quite short.

Liked: Decent bathroom in the 4-bed rooms. Quiet at night.

Disliked: No breakfast. No soul. The most tedious 90's music piped through speakers in EVERY corridor. Why?

Liked: Free internet, clean rooms and ensuites, nice common room with heaps of space and kitchen, the atmosphere was relaxed and great, the lift was nice after a day of walking when you didn't want to hike up those tiny stairs and the staff were really helpful and fabulous.

Disliked: Nothing

Liked: We had our own bathroom in our room, the hostel provided maps for us, no wireless but there were computers for us to use. Location wasn't bad

Disliked: The security lockers were really small and if your lock is too thin, it'll still open.

Liked: Friendly staff, leanient check-in and check-out

Disliked: Common area shut at 11, leaving no access to computers and limited access to WiFi, even if you sit on the staircase. During day WiFi also cut out, and only 4 computers were available for internet browsing only. Staircase was unsafe, very narrow & uneven steps Smelt of either ciggarettes or urine

Liked: Carpet floors, soft beds, beer in vending machine

Disliked: Most things, 1. The water was turned off for hours without any notice, and while this was happening the manager wouldn't answer any questions and left the poor receptionist to deal with understandably angry guests. No refunds or any hint of compensation despite the fact that we paid for ensuite rooms and ended up without any facilities. 2. It was extremely overpriced, all of these bad points could be forgiven if we were paying 15 euro but to be paying 30 and still get absolutely nothing is terrible. 3. They actually go to lengths to stop people having fun! There is a sign in the common room saying 'no drinking games allowed' and they kick everyone out at 11pm, this all leads to a bad atmosphere where no one speaks to each other. 4. The reception hours are ridiculous, although they tell you this, it doesn't make a difference when you arrive at 2 and have to wait around for 2 hours without even being able to drop your bags. And even then you have to wait for another couple of hours before you're even served! 5. Three out of the six lockers in our room were broken, which is bad enough, but we also had someone walk through our room and try all the locks in the middle of the night, so luckily we had consolidated our valuables! 6. No airconditioners in the rooms and when you're on one of the main streets of brussels you can't exactly leave your window open over night so it gets extremely hot. Just a note also, I'm not a hysterical reviewer, this is my first review I've written in a 4 month backpacking trip, but I think people need to know that this hostel does not deserve the rating it has and that it's not worth the price they make you pay.
