Liked: very good location - quick walking distance to town

Disliked: In the dorm rooms (both 3 bed and 4 bed) two of the single beds are pushed up against each other between the door and a wall. These are all mixed sex dorm rooms, so in effect you could end up with sharing what is basically a double bed with a stranger of the opposite sex. - not cool at all. I seriously considered changing hostels when I discovered there was only 1 bed left for me (female) sandwiched between another bed and a wall, with 3 men in the room.

Disliked: Small room for 4 people and two of four beds are together, and the management is relatively unreasonable.

Disliked: Relation quality-price. It's too expensive in comparison to what it offers.

Liked: the location was ok 15 min walk to downtown and the breakfast was good also. The room was pretty clean and had a lockable closet very convenient.

Disliked: The service was poor late during the day and night. There was no real curfew and people shout until 2am. Just near a train railway during night it is pretty noisy.

Liked: Good atmosphere and organization in a very nice destination.

Disliked: A little too noisy because of the trains proximity. We found that the cleanliness of our bathroom might have been better (shower drain blocking).

Liked: This is an old hotel converted into a hostel. Perks are smaller rooms so no 20 bed dorms. Downside no lockers. They did say they had free internet however it is just two old computers NO wifi.

Disliked: No wifi, no lockers, only one key for the rooms.

Liked: Excellent location and very clean

Liked: Actual rooms and bedding were clean.

Disliked: Smoking was allowed inside the building and in the 'chill out' room which was right next to our bedroom. There were no security lockers for personal items and the staff were not overly helpful or welcoming. Breakfast was quite expensive and lacking compared to other hostels in Salzburg.

Liked: Big spacious rooms and nice views, especially from the communal kitchen window.

Disliked: It's also student accommodation - don't accidentally walk into their kitchen!

Liked: The rooms are very basic but clean. When we were there, it just started to open as we were told that they only operate from 1st July, the other times are for use for student accomodation. The showers and toilet are a bit old, but clean.

Liked: they put on the sound of music movie projected onto the wall for the guests to watch

Disliked: the internet access was awful because you had to book time slots on the computer and noone knew that really. so everyone was constantly trying to use 2 computers

Liked: Good welcoming, helpful staff. Internet free, but only 1 computer working for a lot of people in the hostel (dozens of rooms). Breakfast for 3,90 euros is very good (buffet style).

Disliked: Cleanliness could be better, the bed and the room were ok but the shower and the toilet could be cleaner. Expensive for what it was, but it is the Austria... For a single room at 50 euros by night, I would expect to have a towel provided... but no !

Liked: we had a great time at the strawberry youth hostel.the staff were really nice and very helpful, they organised a tour for us (there are a few that the hostel can do) and we were able to be picked up from the hostel itself which was great.breakfast was only 3.90 euro and it was buffet which was very tasty.the hostel was well run and we had a very pleasant stay in beautiful salzburg

Liked: Great place to stay - university dorms. Good rooms and great big kitchens with lots of fridge/freezer space. Free internet and helpful staff round this off as a great hostel.

Liked: My brother and I stayed here August 18-19 2009. Overall the hostel was nice. Good location, only 10 min walk from city center. There is no internet or TV in the rooms. There are two computers for the whole hostel and you must sign up in 20 minute slots for computer time which are located in the lobby. There was a kitchen that travelers could use to cook. The staff at the front desk was very helpful with where to go and what to do around Salzburg. No AC. The rooms were very basic but were relatively clean.
