Bad Gastein is an Alpine resort firstly mentioned in the historical chronicles as early as the 17th century, when the wonderful healing powers of the underground water of Gastein Valley were discovered. This small holiday town reached its fullest flower in the end of the 19th century, during the times of Kaiserin Elisabeth. At that time many of the rich and famous visited Bad Gastein to arrange their thoughts and 'clean blood'.

Nowadays Bad Gasten still is famous for its underground thermal springs and healing radon caves, combined with the potentialities for adventure holiday and almost 200km of ski-runs this makes the resort splendid and unique.

There are 137 km of red tracks, 46 km of blue tracks and 18 km of black tracks in the Gastein Valley. Almost all tracks are connected among each other (Bad Gastein+ Angertal+ Bad Hofgastein as well as Dorfgastein+ Grossarl).

Free of charge, SkiBus runs between the elevators and the elevator card is valid not only within the valley, but in the neighboring valleys as well. Altogether there are approximately 800 km of tracks! After skiing there’s the wonderful thermal pools, discos, and a toboggan track (open till 24:00). There is a spotlit skiing track on Wednesdays not far from the hotel, which is working from 18:30 till 21:00.
