Liked: so many people expect everything for nothing with Australian backpackers, this hostel is worth the money, the manager is very knowledgeable in the travel industry and is well worth talking too its a nice hostel, little noisy but everybody is on holiday, SO they are all here to have fun

Disliked: the reception can get rather hectic at time, so have patience with it, it's worth it. oh the crazy check in woman, well i guess thats her nature

Liked: The friendly atmosphere and friendly staff

Disliked: The rooms can be quite nasty. Old dirty carpets and very poor standards overall.

Liked: Location was good, right in the heart of Kings Cross.

Disliked: Rooms are a bit dingy, kitchen a bit crappy and you had to rent cups, plates, cutlery etc, laundry was cheap but the tumble dryers didn't dry my clothes despite being in there for over an hour! Staff did not inform me of free breakfast, found this out by pure chance. The 'lockers' in my room were not lockers but cupboards to which a padlock can be attached to and there were only 4 of them...in an eight bed dorm.

Liked: we were upgraded for free to a better room as they had double booked our room.

Disliked: kitchen facilities didn't work half the time, constant power cuts. not enough staff on at busy times (check-out).

Liked: Friendly staff and situated right in the thick of King's Cross. Easy to get in to the heart of Sydney.

Disliked: Free breakfast was minimal and ran out quickly. The early bird gets the worm!

Liked: Private room was spacious and clean, bathroom was the same. Helpful staff and close to the station to get anywhere in the city.

Disliked: Kitchen wasnt great as microwaves stopped working and wifi wasnt good. Lift takes ages.

Liked: Tv in room and air con. Comfy mattresses.

Disliked: Kitchen was a bit of a nightmare and whilst it appeared fairly clean there were a lot of flies. Other guests were very loud and often had unwanted people knocking on our door/letting themselves in in the middle of the night looking for friends or thinking it was their room.

Liked: Good location

Disliked: Front door was broken one day for several hours so couldn't get out of the hostel unless we passed our keycard under the door to get someone from outside to open the door and trust they wouldn't run off with the keycard - this was encouraged by the staff. Experience of staff being rude and unhelpful to other guests, however they were fine for us. Although they did have a habit of spending more time on their mobile to their friends whilst dealing with us in silence. Out of the 4 washers and 4 tumble dryers they had, only 1 of each worked. The wifi signal only worked on the lower floors. The free breakfast offered was minimal - we went for it one day in the middle of the "serving hours" only to find an empty loaf of bread.

Liked: Definitely the people we stayed with. the Rooms were ensuited. There were enough pans and stuff in the kitchen and you get your own plates and cutlery. There is a fridge in the room! There is a roof terrace with a stereo!

Disliked: There was fungi in the shower. The staff was sometimes very rude (only one member). Its in Kings Cross so it could be noisy in the night.

Liked: Nothing.

Disliked: THIS IS HONEST REVIEW! I DO NOT WANT OTHER TRAVELLERS TO FACE WHAT WE HAD TOO!! PLEASE READ!! We had a family room. Horrible, dirty, smelt like dirty socks!! Blood stains on the walls, dirty carpets - your worst nightmare! Hole in the whole to outside, where a window should have been! We froze for the first 2 nights, then suddenly a window appeared. We didnt complain as this place is below minimum standards, even for hostels! Never stayed in a place so bad and ive been travelling for 7 months. South America has better hostels than this. Has put me of hostels for life! Located in Kings Cross district, 20 min walk to centre. Backpacker area, please note this is the RED LIGHT district!!!!! (if you into that sort of stuff!!!?) We left as soon as we could, left 2 nights earlier - only good thing was they refunded our money as we were going earlier. They offer a breakfast, we didnt even bother - would never eat in this dump!!

Liked: Some of the staff were very friendly. Bed was comfortable. Location was good for visiting places. Shower wasn't too bad. Breakfast was ok.

Disliked: My roomates were absolutely filthy, including four day old food in sink and their hair clippings in sink everyday. Floor could not be seen under their mess. Not hostels fault obviously, originally, but watched 'cleaner' one day and all she did was spray the bathroom floor and wipe whilst texting then left. Not awful but left a bad taste. The kitchen was my real problem. Little flies buzzing everywhere making you want to vomit. Can tell it can't possibly be clean because there is never ever any washing up liquid left out nor are tables/counters washed down. It's a bad sign, months of germs building up I'm sure. Wasn't too upset cause I know the price, and my bed was perfectly fine, but small effort could really improve this place.

Liked: It was cheap

Disliked: It was the dirtiest place I've ever stayed. There are "no smoking" signs everywhere, but this rule is NEVER enforced (the entire second floor smells like cigarette smoke, as did my room). You get what you pay for. Nothing is all that great. It's either average or horrible. The air con doesn't work properly and you'd be better off with a communal bathroom than an 'ensuite'. Only stay here if you're a 20-something party animal with no respect for others, or if you have no other choice.

Liked: It was nice to have an own bathroom with the dorm and the view from the rooftop was good too.

Disliked: The cleaning of the rooms could be better and there isn't enough cooking utensil like sharp knives or sponges in the kitchen for such a big Hostel!

Liked: the staff was very friendly and helpfull 24hour reception which was great, felt safesecurity camera everywere. rooms cleaned everyday rooftop was good had great view the hungarian recieptionist was really nice cant remember his name and so was the manger if ye ever need anything go to those guys tey wer great..great having a lift i nw it wasnt the best but was great cos we were on the 7th floor..was good location.had abig kitchen enough room for everyonegas cookers :-) not every hostel has tem but the de lux did xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox

Disliked: the shower freezing cold one minute the scalding hot the next but not complaining...we loved this place were sorry we moved out

Liked: Great staff - Laurence was excellent and helpful and answered all our questions. Our room was on the 6th floor and it was generally pretty quiet. Air con in room was great, as was the lift (although it was often faster to take the stairs than wait for the lift). The rooftop area was nice, and the location of the hostel is at the better end of Darlinghurst Road. Free luggage storage was good and rooms all had swipe card access which made it fairly secure. Great value for money on our stay.

Disliked: The website is being updated, so some info was not current. There is no BBQ on Sat or pancakes on Sun. You need to hire plates/cups and cutlery for $10 that you get back when you return them. The kitchen could do with some new equipment and the fridges need to be cleaned out more regularly, although we did see staff tidying up in the mornings.

Liked: - very friendly and helpful staff members - met nice people - nice location (20 minutes walk to the opera house, 25 to darling harbour) - free drinks every evening like promised - great parties on the rooftop nearly every evening

Disliked: - wasn't that clean (windows looked like they've never been cleaned at all) - the free breakfast wasn't even worth it - kings cross (the suburb) can be a bit rude sometimes.

Liked: clean bathrooms bed quality location is great, so easy to get about the air con was broken but that was fine cause it was rainy and grey nightlife has something for everyone eating out, so many places about, really cheap heaps of variety really nice staff

Disliked: the room had a funny smell but that is part of backpacking
