Liked: Prime location only a ten minute walk into the city centre and good night life in kings cross. The roof is awesome just to go up and chill out, maybe do a bit of sunbathing if the weather is good. Its awesome. The staff are so helpful and friendly as are the majority of the people that stay here. There is always a party going on somewhere and d'lux have cheap deals when going on nights out. Its one of the cheapest and best hostels to stay in. I would definately stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

Disliked: Sometimes at night it can be noisy mainly from the street outside.

Liked: Staff are amazing, friendly and available at reception 24hrs. There's always something going on here, never a dull moment! Good price, "interesting" location (!), this place has everything you need when backpacking.

Disliked: The cleaners do their best but are up against it when dealing with us minging backpackers!!

Liked: Good location - backpackers center + not that far to the center. Absolutely positive, helpful, professional staff. Not only professional as it should be, but really getting close with the guest: they came to the boat trip with guests, lots of fun. Hostel offered a boat trip & disco with free bbq for 25AUD (last minute discount 10AUD!) - amazing trip + gorgious night view of harbour. They have also discount tickets for lots of Sydney atractions.

Disliked: Massive cleaning issue. Bathroom, shower was even not touched for 3 days, room carpet haven't seen hoover for ages. Lots of food left in the fridge and cupboards by previous guests. There was no hot water for one day - how can it happen in a city like Sydney? 6cm cockroaches running at corridors.

Liked: The manager was very welcoming and helpful, and nothing was a problem. The location was brilliant - close to Kings Cross station, bus stops, bars, food shops etc. There was a lift too which made it easier getting huge and heavy backpacks up the the higher floors. Plenty info available on jobs, tours and days out, plenty nite time entertainment provided and displayed clearly on a huge board in reception area. Cutlery and plates etc were hired out so you knew your own things would remain clean.

Disliked: The top floor was often really draughty and cool as the smoking area was on the rooftop, accessible from the top floor door. The locks on the lockable storage cupboards were not effective in our room.

Liked: The Rooms were big and you have a bathroom in each room and also a frigde. They have the whole weeks specials for the bagpackers and they make party for them.

Disliked: It isn´t so clean and not so comfortable. It´s also very loud.

Liked: it was a friendly fun environment, my only dislikes were that if you stay for an extended period they often move you to another room, and they didn't know where a lot of things were when i asked, that being said for under $20/night what more can I expect, I met some great people, its in a good location, your room gets its own bathroom. its no HIlton but its everything you need to stay in Sydney.

Liked: It's cheap and clean. The big plus are the ensuite bathrooms, with every room: dorm or private!

Liked: Good Security System. Wasn't worried about bags as they had track of everyone who was going in and out etc. Good Service. Great Value for money.

Disliked: Lift took ages!

Liked: The location was convenient - minutes walk away from Kings Cross station and if you're feeling active, you can walk into the city centre in under half an hour.

Disliked: It wasn't very clean, and it's very noisy. The location, while convenient, is in a rather seedy part of town (although it's not threatening). There was no hot water at one point and the staff didn't really seem bothered by this!

Liked: I had a great time at D*Lux.Staff were excellent ,saturday night was a laugh,Free pancakes on sunday ,and the other guests were great too.Very International.The place is right in the middle of Kings Cross pleanty of bars and food places around.Overall great value for money!!Defenatly would stay there again.

Disliked: No Complaints.

Liked: Nice free breakfast (provided you get up early). The staff ranges from just friendly to very helpful.

Disliked: I had very noisy and messy people in the dorm on my first nights (basically transforming the dorm into a huge dance floor), but the management understood my problem and I could check into another room. I think they got evicted in the end. Broken lockers in the dorm. Not enough lockers anyway (fewer than beds).

Liked: Very little. The staff did try to respond to our complaints about cleanliness, but all of the rooms that we saw were pretty gross. ADVICE: pay an extra $5 a night for a better place. The worst place we have stayed during our 5-month trip.

Disliked: The first dorm room we were assigned to had two people *living* in the room and they clearly resenting backpackers staying in the two available bunks. We complained and got a new room, but even this room was filthy, lacked pillows and was extremely loud. Just when you thought things couldn't get worse, they charge for internet use and only provide white bread for breakfast. A horrible, horrible hostel.

Disliked: Deposit for cutlery and getting pans from reception made cooking a bit more effort.

Liked: i liked the staffs there, extremely friendly.

Disliked: the location of the hostel, it is located in a notorious place. there are a lot of bars, n night clubs. it is very noisy at night. during my night stays, a few times someone knocked the doors, very loud. it was just to invite people to parties n gathering. if they want to invite people, they can put up notices in the notice board. they shouldn't be knocking people's rooms at night.

Liked: Come stay here! Hostel was really well run with gd sized ensuite dorms cleaned daily, elevator, big clean kitchen, super excellent customer service, free breakfast with bread, cereals, tea/coffee in the morning, few mins from clubs, restaurants, shops and kings cross train station. Convenient to be able to walk to most of the main attractions like the bridge, darling harbor, sydney opera house too. Lots of other gd stuff but I didn't need like free pick up from airport, free BBQ on Saturday's and free pancakes on tues and Sundays, and events organized every night with usually free drinks/entry. Also, Laurence, the manager, is a really friendly, nice and genuine guy! Very knowledgable and saw him and staff able to give advice on things to do and with discounts. He helped me out when i had some trouble and took time out on his day off to make sure i was ok and safe, which i greatly appreciate! Would absolutely stay again if I came back to Sydney!

Liked: Service service service! From the moment we arrived, the D*Lux team went above and beyond the call of duty to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Rooms were clean and well set up, But it was really the remarkable care with which we were treated that left us smiling. Highly recommended!

Liked: Love the toilet inside the room and the helpful and friendly staff. Great location, just half and hour walk from the city which can save money

Disliked: the air conditioner and the fringe are quite noisy and disturb sleep

Liked: LAURENCE IS THE MOST AMAZING MAN IN THE WORLD!!! also free photo with a koala was the best thing ever, everyone is helpful blah blah blah we love you etc, the clubs you get free entry into are actually good with good music etc, also the people i stayed with were faaaab so that helped a lot! german efficiency, porta qui pario? hahaah GO HERE i miss it sososoo much already

Disliked: All of my luggage disappeared while I was out! Turns out that was just because the cleaner had tidied everything up under the bed but I was hyperventilating etc, thank the lord for Laurence! Stuff was always gona be safe because there is CCTV. Um and you have to hire a plate so if you forget to and you're lazy (me) then when you're at breakfast you can't use a plate..going downstairs is too much effort duh.

Liked: I was only passing trough in Sydney for couple of nights.The place is great value for money,staff are very friendly especially the night receptionist Lorand.The rooms are cleaned every day and lots of free programs if you wanna go out. Defenatly would stay here again.

Liked: Definitely the location. It is in King Cross and very close to the Kings Cross train station.

Disliked: A paradox thing to say, if you stay in a room facing the main Kings Cross, it can be quiet noisy especially during the weekend.
