Liked: Location

Disliked: The 6 bed dorm I stayed in was tiny, barely any room to move. The bed was also extremely unstable. The kitchen was tiny for the amount of people staying there and there was a distinct lack of pots and pans.

Liked: Convenience to Sydney Central railway station. Quiet single room at the back to crash for a night on my way home, after 24 hours of flying in from overseas

Disliked: Dirty bathroom. Common areas looked worn & a bit run-down.

Liked: The staff were friendly, dispite the aweful system they use taking ages to do something very simple.

Disliked: The photos are very out of date, the rooms are in drastic need of renovation and there is very little toiets to cope with the people. Also we found dead cockroaches everyday and some had not been cleanbed from the prev day! Not clean and not acuratly discribed. The system they use to check is so very slow, it means people wait in cues for long periods of times. I was due to check in at 2pm and the room was not ready till after 4pm! My experience was aweful , waiting for ages to get into a room after a long trip to Sydney was not what I would call fun! I have traveled and stayed in lots of hostels with my partner and this is by far the worst I have come across!

Disliked: industrial and gimmicky atmosphere, there was always a catch to everything offered (i.e. lots of computers but internet was so expensive)

Liked: The hostel is in a great location. It is busy and thus social but a touch loud. It's what you'd expected of a hostel.

Disliked: (Room R15)The bed I stayed in for the first 3 nights was a torture device of bent metal. The street noise was loud and painful at all hours on the weekends and the room smelled like feet. (Room G70) The bed is brilliant, the room doesn't smell and it's quiet, mostly. There is a big difference between R15 and G70.

Liked: Large social areas, good bathrooms, helpful staff, tidy rooms, free Monday night dinner and margaritas, central location - not far from train station.

Disliked: Small kitchen areas with insufficient hobs (1 not working) mean long waits during peak hours, insufficient cutlery and cups for a hostel this size, kitchen closes at 10pm but guests should have access to facilities anytime (other than cleaning times), cleaning of bathrooms during peak hours, cockroaches in women's bathrooms.

Liked: Location and the staff

Disliked: Thay put me in a jail similar room the first night togheter with an other guy. Ok It was right because I booked a two beds room but I could never imagine that the room was so small. Nothing worked in the room and I complained. They give to me another room as big as the other one but with only a bed:) Thanks a lot! Don't book a 2 bedsroom if you're alone. It's better to book one with more beds but you get more space and it's cheaper. This hostel is definetely a must for young people who want to have a party. It rocks every day. Free food and free dinks is true!

Liked: Location- near to a lot of things.

Disliked: I'm really not one to complain but these are just a few things I wasn't happy with. I understand that it's a really cheap place and you get what you pay for but I had a single room (when they eventually gave me the right key) and so my room wasn't that cheap at all. I wasn't expecting it to be that great there, but I also wasn't expecting it to be that BAD! Showers- nowhere to hang things. I couldn't avoid getting my clothes wet on the floor. The noisiest bed I have ever had to hear! I'm not exaggerating, the noise was unimaginable every time I moved. I did have a little laugh about it but at the same time I was afraid to move much in case I woke anyone in the room next to me. Staff weren't very informative-didn't tell me where the facilities were located, what was on offer, didn't seem to want to make any small talk either. So they don't come across as very approachable. Seems like most of them don't want to be there to be honest. My window didnt shut properly could hear the noise from the street crystal clear. I couldn't think of a worst way to spend my first day in Australia after having traveled for 30 hours.

Liked: Awesome location, very close to everywhere I wanted to be.

Disliked: Bathrooms were filthy and the beds were solid as a bolder.

Liked: big communal areas to meet people and they organised an outing to a bar or similar every night (movie night on sundays) which is great.

Disliked: the beds are the most uncomfortable i have EVER slept in. You could feel every spring in the matress. but I asked for an extra blanket and slept on that and it was fine then. the whole place seemed a bit shabby, but I guess you get what you pay for and it was really cheap.

Liked: the staff was incredibly helpful! there's a shuttle bus which is partnered with this backpacker and it comes every 30 min.

Disliked: two people were arguing outside my room and i couldn't sleep.

Liked: You get what you pay for. It's cheap- they give you lots of additional free stuff: pick you up from the airport, events everyday, free drinks vouchers, free food. Location is excellent.

Disliked: it's dirty: there were period stains on the sheets, there was a bunch of rotten flowers on the window sill that had clearly been there over a month and did not belong to anyone staying in the room with me. They were rotten and only a meter away from where people sleep (which if I hadn't taken out would probably still be there). They never clean the room as a whole- just change the bed of the person who leaves. The bathrooms are like those in a public swimming pool- old and with dirt between tiles. Lots of people smoke in their rooms (even though they aren't allowed.) There are bars nearby so it's very noisy at night. The curtains don't fully close together so light gets in. You will need an eye mask and ear plugs if you stay here. Not to mention the crazy girl in my room who was sick in the middle of the room on the floor and on my towel. Or that I came home one night to find someone else sleeping in my bed.

Liked: The staff was the best part--so friendly, helpful and easy to talk to. I had some complications with things going on, and they were outstanding in helping me try to resolve the issues, etc. They also had great suggestions on some things to resolve issues with. The atmosphere was also fun, even if I didn't get to spend much time there. I probably would have enjoyed it a lot, had I stayed longer. :)

Disliked: The main thing I didn't like was not the property's fault--there were some smokers that definitely were smoking inside (AGAINST the rules).
