Liked: staff not bad... thats about it

Disliked: This hostel is not how it looks in the pictures!!!... soooo old and dirty looking. I have stayed in probably 20-25 hostels in Australia and this has been my 2nd worse experience. The dirt in the place it really needs a few things replaced..... DONT let this website fool you with what it says about this hostel!

Liked: I was in Sydney for 2 months, hopping from hostel to hostel until I found this place. Like most people I only booked to stay here for a few days ... 1 month later and I'm still here! The best thing about this hostel is the people and atmosphere. It isnt big and impersonal like some of the other hostels in Sydney. It has a cosy feel and the kitchen and courtyard are great for meeting people. The hostel organise an evening out every evening, which is great for single travellers who want to party! The hostel is in the middle of Kings Cross which is a buzzing place to stay, with lots of places to go out and an interesting mix of people. There is also a BBQ on friday evenings, $5 all you can eat! Lastly I loved that the staff are sooo helpful, this really made the difference as they couldnt do enough to help you wether it be suggesting something to do in the day or helping you book or tours.

Disliked: Not much ... you had to pay for internet ... but thats EVERYWHERE in sydney!

Liked: Its a perfect Hostel to stay in Sydney. It is a friendly, familie fealing location where you can sit out and inside for talking with people. It gives there a lot of thinks to do, so it is never borring there. I spend a very good time at this Hostel and will there go again if I come to Sydney again.

Liked: Great friendly atmosphere, clean, and in a good location despite what people say about kingscross, I had a lot of fun there and it was a great place to meet people

Disliked: Little, although Internet could be cheaper and the staff could sometimes be a little too clicky in there own group

Liked: The public bathroom and showers were updated and well cleaned. There's a nice little book exchange in the common room where I found some nice reads. Also when you come home at night its always really lively on the porch.

Disliked: The fridge in my room had really old food in it and smelled terrible so I didn't want to keep my food in it. Also it didn't seem that the room had been cleaned in awhile )old food, shoes, suitcases that didn't belong to anyone in the room. Granted I didn't bring this up to the staff because I wasn't in my room enough to care that much, so I'm not sure what they would have done about it had I mentioned it.

Liked: Really charming hostel, with a great atmosphere. Is a bit dingy but overall it's pretty clean and well kept.

Disliked: When someone walked across the floor, my whole bed jiggled. As well, the front desk staff didn't tell me the time of checkout (and I was too jet-lagged to remember to ask) so I missed the checkout time and lost my deposit. LAME.

Liked: It is a nice building and the location is great! It's not on a busy street so I could actually sleep at night. All the facilities are nice and the staff are very helpful.

Disliked: The room was a bit hot and sticky but you get used to it.

Liked: The Tv room is a great place to chill out - very comfortable. Also there are plenty of bathrooms so you don't ever have to wait long to use one!

Liked: The staff were the most friendly I have experienced down the East Coast! They were generally willing to help and make your stay enjoyable! The rooms have a TV/DVD player with free rental which is good if you feel like staying in on an evening! There is a large kitchen with a good sized courtyard for relaxing/eating! The location is good....about a 20minute walk from most places but very close to Kings Cross station!

Disliked: The internet is very slow.

Liked: The room was a fair size and the room came with a flat screen tv, which we were not expecting.

Disliked: Our room had damp which made it hard to breathe. Due to the damp, areas of the carpet were permanently wet. We survived by keeping the window open 24hr and using the electric fan to circulate the air. We wouldn't have stayed in the room but we were asked to pay before seeing it and the hostel was fully booked so we couldn't swap rooms. Additionally, there were stains on both the chairs and the pillow cases and the shower extractor fan had loose uncovered wiring almost directly under the shower head.

Liked: Proximity to Kings Cross, Linens provided, helpful staff, people on porch socialising at night

Disliked: room smelled bad, very cluttered in room, warm in room because so close to the street--the window wasn't opened to control for noise

Liked: Liked the location and the staff were mostly friendly and helpful. We stayed in a double room with private ensuite which was a reasonable though not great price. Private rooms right beside the communal outside area which at times a bit frustrating though also fine if you prepared to put up with noise and smoke drift.

Disliked: The internet was terrible! Computers so old and slow they really should not have been charging for use of them. Also, the whole place was a bit dirty and greasy. Not terrible but felt like it needed a good spring clean. Also should offer a discount on longer stays in the single rooms as they are saving by not offering any extra (ie cleaning it) during a week long stay.

Liked: Nothing much except that it's cheap and just near King's Cross station

Disliked: I believe I booked a room for only 4 ladies but we (me and my 2 friends) ended staying in an 8 bed room. That would be okay if the roommates were friendly or at least clean with their surroundings. The place was a mess.

Liked: Stayed at a few places in Sydney (Wake Up & a couple of YHAs), but this was the one I've most enjoyed. More intimate than the YHAs, easier to meet people and socialise. And really helped by the friendly bloke on the front desk. E.g. Me: "Where's good to eat?" Him with map: "Try here for this, here for that, oh and that place has great steak..." etc. Equivalent at YHA Bondi: Me: "Where's good to eat?" YHA guy: "Go down to the beach, you'll find something."

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: Good atmosphere, very friendly staff.

Disliked: Internet connection is very slow and you are charged by the hour. Therefore most of your credit is spent waiting for pages to load. This is a bit of a rip off.

Liked: They have a Great tv Room and also a tv and a fridge in the room. The staff was really friendly and you get tea and coffee for free. Also close to kings cross train station. The atmosphere in the hostel is ok.

Disliked: They don't clean the rooms very often and you also have no bathrooms in the room. The kitchen facilities were not in the best shape, but it wasn't so bad. There is no free Internet, which is inappropriate for me. It is not the cheapest hostel in Sydney and a hostel next door is cheaper and has more facilities for free!
