"I felt like I was coming home. The staff took the time to get to know everyone and made sure we saw the best parts of Port Macquarie. The art and decor was awesome."

About Beachside Backpacker

It is hard to know where to start when describing this arty and friendly little hostel.

We could talk about how we offer so many free things like greyhound pickup, trips to the good surf beaches etc etc – But another hostel in town also offers a similar amount of free things. Free things are nice, but backpackers want experiences, they are young and alive, and want something more than a list of commodities. Boring.

We could talk about how we have the best location in town– we easily do (check out our location), but having the best location is not enough.

Or we could talk about how the owners of this hostel are young backpackers who know what you want – Of course this is exactly what we are, but every hostel owner says they are a backpacker, including hostels run by 80 year old cat ladies.

Instead rather let us tell you the only things that matters:

We are the funnest hostel in Port M. We love to make it easy for backpackers to meet each other. At night we will make sure you are included in any barbecues or drinking games we are hosting (and we have created some amazing games). But most importantly, we will not end the fun by turning off the lights at 1030 like most hostels in Australia do. Not only that, but at 1030 the next morning when most hostels are pushing you out the door, we allow you a sleep-in till midday and to have free use of the facilities until 6pm. Other hostels may give you a lift to the beach, but we will jump in and surf with you.

We are the friendliest hostel in town. We make you feel at home and part of the action as soon as you walk in the door. Our staff are friendly because they love this hostel, not because they are paid to be. So our staff will take you surfing (free of charge). They will invite you to sit at their table if you are alone.

We are the most creative and arty hostel in town. When we bought this hostel we had one goal in mind. Let’s give backpackers an alternative to the sterile and boring ‘Mr Monopoly’ hostels which seem to be increasingly common. Let’s make a hostel where people are more important to us than money. But also, let’s make a funky hostel with great music and art everywhere. An old friend of ours just won the ‘2013 RAWards AUSTRALIA Visual Artist of the Year,’ and she has been up here furiously going to artistic town on the hostel walls. Her art is definitely worth seeing and usually quite expensive to see in a gallery. But there is also a large amount of art from talented backpackers like you, who were nice enough to paint beauty on our walls.

Come to beachside backpackers and find out why we are quickly becoming one of the most talked about hostel on the east coast.

Welcome Vlkommen Bienvenue Huan ying Vitejte Velkommen Welkom Bonvenon Tere tulemast Tervetuloa Wolkom Willkommen

P.S. We do have free high speed WiFi, free computers, free greyhound pickup, free linen, free trips to the surf beaches and free learner surfboards, free lockers, free tea and coffee (and sugar ;)), 24 hour reception, tourist information, free maps, DVDs, books, board games and midday checkout.

Our target market is Backpackers between the ages of 18-35. While we are happy to accept guests outside this age group (and some of our most amazing guests have been older), older guests should be aware that we are structured to appeal to a younger market. So if you are young at heart, arty and alternative - please join us, However if you are looking for a more big chain type hostel - then please seek accommodation at one of the other great hostels in town.
