Liked: Good location and facilities. Safe and secure.

Disliked: Some staff were great, others were a bit hostile. Cleaning was sporadic - in the ensuite rooms it could be up to 4 days before the bathroom was cleaned (and only then because we asked). The heating was broken in one of the rooms, but extra blankets were available. The band practice garage next door made for some very noisy nights. Not much atmosphere - great facilities for BBQs and movie nights, but this wasn't utilised.

Liked: Met some other backpackers who were nice..

Disliked: They did'nt clean the bathroom in many days, unfresh.. The beds were not very comfortable..

Liked: I Arrived at The Emperor's Crown hostel at around 9:30am. It was extremely easy to find following airport connection shuttle van and cost only A$18 from the international airport. I was unable to check in until 14:00 which was frustrated. The staff at the front desk was made me feel welcome. My bags were stored away so I can wriggle to get a drink from venting machine along with watched TV on their comfy sofa or checking email as well as using the wash room facilities.The bed itself was very comfortable with a good quality mattress and bedspread and sheets, certainly on a par with a luxury hotel bed, and the bathrooms were very clean as well. Overall the whole place was shiny, bright and modern one to stay in with great facilities and near the city centre

Disliked: I stayed here two nights in a 4-shared female room in Jun 2010. Two of the four girls in my room were residing in Perth long-term at the hostel, so their things had placed all over the room (ref picture). Upon entering the room I am rather shocked by the musty, petite, horrific aeration, air-condition was not working and smell stale of it. The room seems was not cleaned or made-up in days with many surfaces left dusty, the floor with mildewed, grubby, squashy carpet. Several guest chosen to sleep at corridor or outside of the room.

Liked: The room was clean, tidy and exactly what I was after. The bathroom was good and the room also had a fridge. Some noise in the early hours of the morning from a refuse collection but I am a light sleeper, most I expect wouldn't notice. I would stay at the Emperor's Crown again.

Liked: Fine place to relax. There are plenty of more central hostels - the actual location isn't far from things but the street etc. isn't exactly picturesque. We had a private room which was fairly clean and had a good shower (always important in my book!). There was a fair bit of noise - especially garbage bins from the offices etc. outside early in the morning - but not a major deal. The majority of the staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about all sorts of relevant details for both Perth and the wider evnironment.

Liked: We're a mature couple and this was our first stay in a hostel. Couldn't fault it. Excellent value for money, good facilities and incredibly helpful staff. Would recommend it to anyone.
