Liked: This hostel is a good location for people who want to work near Perth. The hostel is small, cosy and has 'a family feeling'. Most travelers stay here for about three months. The best thing is, that's it's close to the beach. The bus from Perth takes about 35 minutes to get to the hostel, so a car is recommended.

Disliked: The kitchen could be cleaner.

Liked: Friendly staff , excellent location, good facilities and a cool cat;)

Disliked: An otherewise great hostel with great location and staff is brought down badly by dirty and very messy residents(not the hostels fault) that sometimes destroys the obove positive image(this is at least for my stay at the place), otherwise nothing else;)

Liked: Western Beach Lodge is a fantastic place to start your travelling - I was made to feel welcome by all staff and residents. There are quite a few long termers here which is great as they are so helpful when your first arrive in the country and need advice! This was my first place in Australia and it made travelling here by myself not so daunting! The location of the hostel was perfect - very close to the beach and easy to access the city centre by public transport. Would recommend this hostel to everyone, the owners have it just right!

Liked: It was really close to the beach and only about 30mins into the city.

Disliked: really small. Not that, that was bad, I just like large hostels better.

Liked: cheap and cheerful. fridge in the room.

Disliked: There are signs stating people should be quiet after midnight. Sadly they arent much adhered to. The last night we had to be out at 4am for a flight, the party continued outside and next door until about 2am..... Washing machine also has a lot of sand in it!

Liked: Great location, only 5-10 minutes walk to Scarborough Beach. Staff were friendly and helpful, and were even kind enough to help me carry my bags to the dorm! There was a large games room and TV lounge, perfect for socialising with fellow travelers. Security was good, lockers were provided in dorms. There were also kitchen and laundry facilities. The place was more like a home than a hostel. I really enjoyed my stay here, and will definitely return here if I'm in Perth again.

Disliked: A dryer would have been nice.

Liked: Right next to the beach but still easy to get in and out of the city. Lots of places to chill out and socialize but kept quiet at a decent time. Free bodyboards and surfboards. Friendly staff and a really nice atmosphere.

Liked: The staff are amazing! The location is sweet - 5 min from the beautiful Scarborough beach. The atmosphere was the hostels best trait!

Liked: Great place to stay if you want a relaxing place that is a five- ten minute walk to the beach. We stayed in the ensuite double private room and it was great for what we needed. Felt like we were staying at a friend's beach house. Would recommend bringing an extra towel as the towels they provide are small. Staff very friendly and we had a great time.

Disliked: The beach is about 20 mins walk away, the internet was never available, I wouldn't pay $70 per night for the double en suite, the bed was lumpy and pillows flat, only one towel was provided for 2 people and it was ragged, the toilet bowl was stained brown, no ceiling fan, only a floor fan. The reception was manned 1 day out of the 3 we were there and its around an hours bus ride into Perth and the nearest train station is about a 30min bus ride away, but your already on the bus, so why get off and pay again. And they tried to charge me the new price increase and denied that i had paid a deposit, when i had booked through hostelbookers for $70 a night and already paid a deposit and it was only upon showing them the booking slip did they let me pay the remaining balance at $70 a night.

Liked: A very friendly place to stay, easy to meet people and a moment away from the beach. Free tea, coffee and bread too. I really enjoyed my stay here - the place has a great atmosphere. It is convenient if you just want to chill out or if you want to party. I highly recommend it! It is a little bit outside of perth....but so close to the beach it wasn't an issue at all!

Liked: This place was simply great. It was quite a bit out of the city, but good bus service meant that it was easy to go to and from whenever we felt like it. It was fantastically close to the beach, and there's nothing better than walking on the beach or going for a swim in the morning. The staff were very helpful, friendly, and made us feel welcome. We were upgraded to a double room, which was clean and spacious, and there was a breakfast and lounge area which was great for meeting people, though we only stayed one night so didn't meet a lot people.

Disliked: There's nothing to mention here.

Liked: We paid for a shared dorm room but because of our late check in we were upgraded to a double room at no extra cost. The staff were very friendly and really helpful. It is close to the beach and public transport into the city.

Disliked: Nothing it was definatley one of the best hostels we've stayed in in Australia
