Liked: The atmosphere is very friendly and familiar. Its not directly in the center but if you are looking for a quieter spot its a good choice.

Liked: This hostel has a cosy feel to it and as it's relatively small it gives you the opportunity to get to know the rest of the guests quite quickly. The staff are friendly and more than willing to offer any advice. It's a short tram journey from the CBD and it is located next to Chapel St. which has many shops, restaurants, etc.

Disliked: If a guest wants to extend their stay at short notice then there is a possibility that they may have to change to another room/dorm. (Although this problem is more due to the short-term notice given by the guest rather than any fault of the staff).

Liked: Has character. Despite the rundown exterior and somewhat messy interior, the place is full of character, warm friendly people in the dorms made the whole experience a complete and engaging one. Will definitely miss the people I've met there. Plus, free brekkie!

Disliked: Could have been cleaner, but that's a personal preference. Bunk beds tend to squeak, but not much of a nuisance. Needs more laundry space for hanging clothes up.

Liked: The location, and the balcony.

Disliked: A lot of the other guest made a lot of noise until late. Few bathrooms.

Liked: Proximity to public transport.

Disliked: The hostel seemed a bit grubby altho the bathrooms were generally clean. The non-smoking part seemed a bit 'loose' as the rooms often smelt like smokers were in there. It was very noisy and difficult to sleep as it is very close to lots of bars and clubs. Very limited office opening hours.

Liked: Location was amazing, close to transport clubs n restaurants

Disliked: dirty, sheets not changed from previous people, rooms were small and smelt, small mirrors in rooms, staff disk voiced and uninterested. Has the potential to be a really cool hostel but lacks communal areas and an atmosphere

Liked: The receptionist was by far a tremendous asset to this hostel. She went right out of her way to assist others and myself.

Disliked: The window in the room was not working, but would be fixed asap.

Liked: Good location near Chapel St. Fun if you are there to party I imagine.

Disliked: The beds were very old and uncomfortable. There were no staff to help with anything outside business hours. The bar was pumping out loud music until 2:30am, which is fine if you're on holiday, but I needed to sleep. The place was filthy. Otherwise fine, but after one night I went to find another place to sleep. The Nunnery in Fitzroy wins hands down. I will stick with this in future.

Disliked: the WORST hostel ever!!! Not possible to sleep over the first four nights (because of so much noise). Complained everyday, they didnt care. The room (private double) was in fact too small for two people with luggage. The TV wasnt working so taking even more place for nothing. Nothing else to say. NOT RECOMMENDED!

Liked: Out the way, bit quieter but easy to get in to the city. The bar was mega cheap :-)

Liked: A place with great wonderful friendly people and great services as well. The place is not too far from the train stations and food and shops are nearby as well.

Disliked: Just be prepared to hear noises at night because of the pub in the hostel itself.

Liked: Cheap and cheerful, fantastic location, but an old building and not too clean. Plus you could hear everything that went on in the whole building! And they locked the kitchen between 9pm and 7am because of some idiots not cleaning up, but we werent involved and we couldnt have a cup of tea before an early start! How Dare You!
