Liked: The staff were very helpful and friendly. Thats about it.

Disliked: It is like walking into a club 18-30's hostel with barely-legal people hanging about the hostel who's only sole purpose of travelling seems to be to cause as much noise and drink as much as possible and then mope about the following day with fags hanging out of their mouths complaining at eahother about how hungover they are. The rooms are depressing, the beds are uncomfortable and the pub downstairs is VERY noisy. Our entire room was vibrating from the noise downstairs until 4am because is was so loud and close to the speakers and it felt like I was in a tourture chamber. The hostel should warn people in advance of this on their website. Oh and the pub plays live music 6 times a week, so do not expect any sleep. Also, the bathrooms were very dirty (think fag-buts in sink and horrible toilets). Bottom line: Stay here if you want to party, not if you want to sleep.

Liked: Comfy bed.

Disliked: The room had a mouldy smell and I wolk up covered in bites it was also very noisy and cold. Shower was cold ( we were told one can be but as others were busy I had to use this one).

Liked: Brilliant staff, great atmosphere. The free pancakes and friday night BBQ were yum. free wifi was handy for searching for jobs. very clean kitchen and bathroom. great hostel!

Liked: Location and super party atmosphere (every day of the week)!!!

Disliked: that my room was next to the party area because the one night i wanted to sleep i found it hard work to actually get to sleep

Liked: Great atmosphere and people. The staff was incredibly helpful, chocolate chip pancakes every morning was amazing!

Disliked: The bathrooms could've been cleaner.

Liked: Good location for the grand prix and fitzroy street. Easy to get to from the city by tram.

Disliked: Very noisy on weekends due to the pub below. Music goes all night. Earplugs are no help.

Liked: The twin room was very nice, comfortable beds and the staff a very friendly. The tram is right outside and there is a pub down stairs. Within walking distance of Chapel St and St. Kilda Beach.

Disliked: The Bathrooms were a little dirty, and it is a little far from the city center. In saying that the transport into the center is great, day or night.

Liked: not there long enough to form opinion really but staff where helpful and lockers in your room - i had bad matteress but mentioned and was changed straight away so good service. BBQ was good!!

Disliked: Was above a busy pub so if that bothers you i would not stay I was happy though

Liked: Great location (close to the beach)...lot's of restaurants and pubs around

Disliked: The whole place is pretty dirty...it get's cleaned every day, but the cleaners don't really do their job

Liked: Good location. Clean room.

Disliked: Bathroom needs a good clean. Very noisy at night but I guess that's what you can expect from staying above a pub on a Friday night. Uncomfortable bed.

Disliked: expansive internet access, extremly loud at night because of the pub downstairs, unorganized (many people had to change rooms during their stay cause the staff didnt organized it well)

Liked: Ease of access to St.Kilda, which is an enjoyable place to stay.

Disliked: Friday, Saturday and Monday nights, do not plan on getting any sleep. This place is above a pub, and it will feel like the dj is playing in your room. The staff are nice; but the long term residents are tough to crack, even if the other back packers are.

Liked: Free breakfast! Would be a nice location in summer, but we went in the winter so was too cold to explore St Kilda-although tram into centre of Melbourne did not take long at all.

Disliked: Eleanor left no negative feedback.

Disliked: Having read previous reviews I knew it would be quite loud staying at the Ritz....I did underestimate it, banging music until 3am on the weekends. However it did not ruin my stay as I was prepared for it.
