Liked: Didn't like it much, thought it was very dirty and not my kind of crowd either. Was clearly aimed at partying people in their early 20's. I stayed in one of the 'sanctuary' room, which was ok, but didn't feel that special, plus there wasn't a single hook in the ensuite bathroom to hang towels or clothes, so obviously gets really messy when there are 8 girls sharing.

Liked: You can meet people from over the world @ the pub on the ground floor. I had so much fun there, I wanna go back!! This place is one of the best backpacker in Melbourne.

Liked: We messed up and didnt check out on time, we had such a helpful receptionist who made sure we were happy and tried her hardest not to charge us anything. It made us feel great because we were so upset that we were going to be charged effectively double for one night!

Liked: Loved the underbed lockers and very high security measures in place!! The Red Eye bar was also brilliant with fantastic drinks offers.

Liked: We are a little bit older than the normal Base crowd, they gave us earplugs since our room was right over the bar. The staff was very helpful, even when they were very busy! I felt very safe. St. Kilda is a super town! I would visit there again over Melbourne and Sydney!

Liked: The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful, and people staying there were fun! The bar was a great place to start a night out, the beds were clean and comfy, only downside was the bathrooms lacked a place to put anything ie no towel rack or bench top, and were dirty when we first arrived, but after telling staff they sent people to clean it immediately. I would definately stay at base again!

Liked: Cleanliness, comfortable sleeping arrangements, good shower/bathroom facilities, strict security, 24 hour reception, location (right in the heart of st kilda... 5 mins walk away from the shops, local bars, and the beach!!)
