Gecko's rest is a family owned and operated budget accommodation provider, situated in the heart of Mackay (CBD). We can also book you a tour with Reeforest that goes to Eungella and Finch Hatton Gorge in the National Park to see the Unique Platypus and the rainforest.

Reception operates between the hours of 8am & 9pm.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT 9PM IS THE LATEST CHECK-IN TIME.

Anytime after 9pm, you may not be able to check-in.

We are close (less than a 5 minute walk) to the eateries; cinema, shopping, Lagoon and nightlife of Mackay. We do close at 9pm and do not do late-check in’s.

Join the jungle bus for a safari into the ancient rainforest domain of the unique platypus. Your experienced guide will explain the dynamics of this pristine environment and point out colourful butterflies and parrots, fruit doves and goannas as we stroll into “Finch Hatton Gorge” under a canopy of huge trees dripping with vines, orchids and ferns to swim under crystal waterfalls and unwind with Mother Nature.
It is than time to visit Broken River and view the elusive platypus, kingfishers, turtles and water dragons along the river. An eco adventure to remember!

Accommodation Information

Gecko's rest is purpose built and family run. We have a variety of rooms (19 in total) which can sleep up to 48 people. All of our facilities are clean & comfortable and we are fully compliant with all fire safety regulations for your safety (and our peace of mind!).
The latest check-in time we do is 21.00pm
