About Gecko's Rest
Mackay and the Mackay region has got a lot to offer. Why not chill out by the Bluewater Lagoon (free entry), take a scenic walk along the Pioneer River or take the bus to the idyllic Northern Beaches.
Rent a car or go on a tour to the Eungella National Park and Finch Hatton Gorge to spot the shy platypus, go on a walk through the rainforest and swim in waterfalls. Visit the Cape Hillsborough National Park with it's great walking trails, impressive lookouts and kangaroos on the beach. Book a daytrip to beautiful Keswick Island and do some snorkelling, hire a buggy or just relax on the beach.

Gecko's Rest is located on Sydney Street, three doors down from Kate O'Reilly's Irish Pub. We are 10 minutes walk from the Greyhound/ Premierbus bus stop (corner Victoria/ Tennyson ST).
We are close to Mackay's attractions: Bluewater Trail, Bluewater Lagoon, Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre, Mackay City Library, Artspace Centre, Queens Park and Orchid House, Heritage & Art Deco walks, Memorial Swim Centre and Bluewater Quay. All other attractions, Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens, Marina/ Harbour, inner city beaches, are easily accessible by bus.
