Liked: I liked everything about this hostel, the atmosphere was awesome, the staff were extremely friendly with my group and also very helpful. Definitely recommend it.

Liked: I was with a big group and it was the best hostel we stayed in, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and I'll definitely be back :-)

Liked: Awesome hostel - lovely staff, very friendly! Great to come in from the cold Hobart weather to a roaring log fire & a big pot of mulled wine! :) Mmmm!

Disliked: It was a little cold, but the fire warmed up nicely!

Liked: Overall, I really liked the hostel. The staff were pretty friendly and helpful and the bar creates a good atmoshpere for meeting people.Check before you book because whilst I was there the men's showers were ripped out and there were not many facilities for them. I saw some use the girl's bathroom (and didn't blame them); others had to use temporary cubicles in the car park. If I was a guy I would have been a bit pissed off.Also, there are a number of entrances so it's not as secure as you might like. Having said that, it's not too bad and I didn't have any issues - just worth being aware of.

Liked: I personally thought that The Pickled Frog was more suited to the younger crowd - I felt my age but soon got over it :) - that was there - we are in our 50's however, we enjoy the Backpacking type of holiday, we did the Trans Mongolian/Siberian Rail trip and Nepal - Himalayas and part of India with Peregrine/Gecko backpacking trips and enjoyed the experience immensely. Our room - The Fire Wardens room - had its own kitchen which we used and as such didn't get to meet any other travellers. I personally thought that the building needed some attention however, we both thought that our stay was worth the amount that we paid. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Liked: I found this hostel really fun. Mulled wine monday was really cool! New owners and managers have made this place better than some of the reviews i have seen.

Liked: It was a very friendly and homey environment. The only downside was that it was quite chilly and while there was a heater in the individual bedrooms, it was quite cold in the hang out areas within the hostel.
