Stay at Hobart’s most laid back hostel in one of Australia’s oldest Hotels!

Book a budget dorm bed, a room of 4 for a small group or treat yourself to a private room - we have doubles and twins with a shared bathroom or doubles and triples with ensuite and flat screen TV.

We have a large, clean fully equipped kitchen; a comfortable TV lounge with pool table; spacious courtyard for summer events; laundry facilities and security lockers. To top it off we provide FREE WIFI throughout the building!

From November to February EVERY FRIDAY from 5pm enjoy cheap local beer and cider on tap, in the Tassie Backpackers courtyard! A great way to meet fellow travellers and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of our beautiful city! If for some reason you stay elsewhere (we can't imagine any reason why you would), come visit us on Fridays, entry with passport or interstate ID!

Our friendly and knowledgeable staff have all the inside info on ways to travel around our beautiful Island of Tasmania, with reception/ tour desk open from 9am to 9pm 7 days with staff on hand 24 hours a day.
Centrally located near one end of the Elizabeth st shopping mall, we are a 5 minute stroll away from the Hobart Waterfront, Constitution Dock and the famous Salamanca Place.

Accommodation Information

All rooms freshly painted and refurbished. Communal areas include lounge with large flat screen TV and comfortable couches, spacious kitchen with dishwasher and multiple electric ovens and stove tops, both surrounding huge courtyard area.

Perfectly located in the city centre, only a 5 minute walk to the famous Salamanca Markets & Hobart's historic Waterfront, Aquatic Centre & Botanic Gardens. 67 Liverpool St in heart of city centre across road from Elizabeth St shopping mall and near royal Hobart hospital.
