Liked: Location, roof top bar

Disliked: We arrived in our room and it was full of rubbish - bags of old clothes, a bin overflowing with rubbish, and and old duvet and loads of pillows shoved up against a wall. Nobody came to clean it, and when the cleaners finally did come, they left loads of rubbish still in there!! There are much better hostels to stay in Darwin, don't bother with this one.

Liked: The swimming pool and the bar on the roof were really nice. The rooms were clean and you have a safe in the room which is really convenient.

Liked: pool, location, fine rooms, fine place.. no worries.

Disliked: wouldnt stay here alone again.. people are in groups a lot. but other than that it was good. I would recommend this hostel, but they have to be better with the cleaning in the bathrooms, better cardlockers and the fridges didnt work properly.. so my butter melted and my meat got bad.. :/ but its still a pretty good hostel. the staff is too busy to help..

Liked: I stayed in a 4 bed girls only dorm, it was bright and cool, air con wasexcellent.

Disliked: Its a very "clicky" hostel, people seem to have been staying for a long period and have formed big groups.

Disliked: You have to use a cipcard everywhere and often this card didn't work. Not clean in kitchen and bathrooms.

Liked: nice staff, central location, powerful aircon (almost too powerful, I got a little cold coz the americans in my room set the temp to 11°C LOL ;))

Disliked: it's pretty noisy at night because the doors fall in their lock very loudly. the WiFi and internet terminals are totally overpriced in my opinion, their network is managed by Global Gossip and you even run cheaper if you buy a GG SIM card and use mobile internet then. Nonetheless for almost 30 AUD a night I would expect a free WiFi, as well as some other amenities for wich you have to pay extra here.

Liked: The central location is good if you like to go to the club/pubs and there are many restaurants near by. Also the library is close by which offers free internet.

Disliked: The damp in the rooms was very bad, I stayed 4 nights and stayed in 3 rooms. I realise its the wet season but the dampness is shocking and most likely unhealthy. There's no free inter and the pricing for the internet is to high. There are better hostels that cost less not to far away. the cookers have no marking on them so tell you if the hobs is on/off or high/low.

Disliked: the rooms were discusting. they were damp and full of mildew a giving them a rotten smell

Disliked: walls in the rooms get wet when you switch of the AC and they are mildew infested rooms which are overpainted.

Liked: Well located, though, Darwin city is not too big of a place, so anywhere you stay would be a good location. The 4 bed dorm I stayed in was big enough to fit everyone's luggage and much more. Bar/deck/pool area was ok but closed at 11pm.

Disliked: The staff were terrible. Very rude. What thought to be sarcastic comments turned out to be truthful. They weren't flexible with check-in times, considering it's a backpacker hostel, not everyone can check-in at 10am sharp. I arrived in Darwin at about 4.30am, got to Melaleuca at about 5.30 or so and they wouldn't let me check in early so I had to literally just sit there and wait til it was 10. Mattresses had a plastic covering and made annoying noises everytime someone moved. Bring your own pillowcase unless you don't mind sleeping on a dirty pillow.

Liked: The bar and pool areas were good.

Disliked: We booked for a room for 2 nights. All we got was a bunk bed with plastic sheets and a bathroom with water dripping from the ceiling. The room cast the same (160 au$ for 2 nights) as a nice and clean hotel with everything!! Would never pay that amount when I can get triple the value for my money down the road. But maybe the dorms were okay.. Oh, and there were quite a lot of noise at 5am...!

Liked: Staff were very helpful. Had a female only floor. Staff very security conscious, checked everyone had a room key before allowing them into the hostel. We were able to check in early after a disasterous flight! Great place to meet people, very relaxed atmosphere
