Liked: This was actually the nicest hostel I have stayed at in Australia. Quiet, friendly place. In fact the staff is amazingly friendly! It was mostly clean - the bathrooms might need a thorough clean soon, but for the rest it was really ok. The rooms have aircon AND fan, which is really good in hot humid Darwin. They have free internet: one computer and one station where you can plug in your laptop. Fast connection, very good.

Disliked: This place is ant haven! Ants are EVERYWHERE: in the kitchen, the cupboards, the showers...

Liked: They were helpful, and assisted me in reconfirming my tours with Adventure Tours. They also kept our baggage safe whilst we went away to Kakadu NP for 2 nights even though we were moving on on our return to Darwin.

Disliked: It was a bit noisy in our room (due to the long corridors, so sound travelled quite easily). The room cleanliness was OK, but the toilets smelt and also were unisex :(

Liked: Good, clean and enough showers and toilets. Female only bathroom was always clean. Nice swimming pool! Friendly staff (most of them). Dorm was ok! Nice beds and clean linen. Big lockers. Airconditioning and fan. Fridge in every dorm. Good tour desk.

Disliked: our dorm had not been cleaned while I stayed there (3 days). It didn't seem dirty, but still I think they could clean the floor and empty the bin every day, because there were ants coming in from the window, searching for food in the bin..

Liked: i spend 4 nights in female 4 beds dorm. the room has enough space with a small useful frigde and lockers. all bed bunks are new and my bed is comfortable, kitchen is clean including dining area. good condition pool and very helpful staffs. it's about 10 mins walk to the central of Darwin city and all shopping malls but far away from noisy!!!

Liked: Quiet but convenient location, always felt secure, helpful staff, good facilities. Great if you're looking for a relazing place. Good for the more 'mature', or people with kids.

Disliked: It was very hot!! I had to retreat to my room to sit in front of the air conditioner and couldn't stay in the communal areas.

Liked: There is a real chilled out atmosphere. If you want a party its not the place for you! If you like it quiet its great. Beds are very comfy, proper mattresses is a plus!

Liked: The staff were pleasant and helpful. The Lodge has a good location, not too far from the busy streets or park. The bed, linen and towel were good quality and clean.

Disliked: There are only 2 computers in the entire building that have internet. And there is always people waiting to use the computers. There is NO wifi!

Liked: Rooms have lockers, the BBQ was very nice, free coffee, and a pool

Disliked: Rooms and bathrooms were dirty, front door was usually unlocked, signs in the hostel have an attitude like it's not the staff's job to clean the place.

Liked: What a wonderfull hostel, nice people, clean, good kitchen with equipment, (small) swimmingpool, at the main street of darwin so close to everything, bus stops in front of the door, Feeling save, airconditioning in rooms, nice showers I can go on and on but one word is enough.. Perfect!

Disliked: Not a thing.

Liked: was not right in the center where all the other backpacker accommodations and pubs are, so it was more quiet

Disliked: the washing machines were out of order and we had to bother elke's backpackers right across the street (thanks again for the washing opportunity) they told us, that the machines were already broke for 2 months and nobody seemed to care

Liked: I liked the room. It was clean and just painted and on back yard good grill and hot tub. Excellent situation near the center but quiet.

Disliked: The reception could be open at 6.00 am it didn't. We had to leave our backbacks without control waiting for our return. Check in too late 15.00 pm

Liked: Clean rooms and air con plus fan in the bedrooms which was much needed! Free internet and most people kept to the 15 min rule to allow everyone to have a turn. Tea making facilities on all floors in addition to the communal kitchen.

Disliked: A little run down, a few broken tiles in the bathroom, broken fly screens and all but 1 saucepan had lost its handle. A girl on the bottom floor had her room broken into as the window didn't shut properly so would recommend a 4 bed dorm on one of the upper floors.

Liked: Well located hostel. Banyan View Lodge is only a few minutes walk to the main strip of bars, restaurants and shops but just far enough to be very quiet overnight. I stayed in a private triple room, which had our own fridge, kettle and tea bags, coffee and sugar. also had sircon in our room, which was very much needed. Kitchen was ok, plenty of hobs for a few people to be cooking at the same time.

Disliked: The laundry was very dirty and only had one working washing machine and dryer. Lounge area was fairly small, only a few people could sit at once. Overall a good hostel at a reasonable price.

Liked: The fridge and kettle in your room and complimentery tea and coffee. Outside area was nice.

Disliked: Kitchen was always dirty, bathroom floors were always dirty. Staff were not very helpful. the luggage room was time and as many flights leave Darwin late lots of people store their luggage. Reception hours were a bit silly (why open so early?). Very dated lodge, needs a lots of maintence.
