Liked: This is a lovely hostel, full of friendly backpackers. The hostel itself is really cute. I really enjoyed my time here, and would recommend staying here.

Liked: I really enjoyed staying at Dreamtime, we ended up staying a week and a half after only booking in for 4 days as we were due to fly out of Cairns. It was a really relaxed place with a lovely atmosphere. I really liked the rainforest feel and the rooms were very nice and the beds were comfortable. Air con was $1 for 3 hours but 2 coins can be put in for 6 hrs which is good for over the night. There are also ceiling fans too. They have entertainment most nights - movie nights, pizza night & a bbq night. There are kitchens in each little block, the kitchens are small but only for a certain amount of people it isnt too bad. I never found it too busy in there because people seemed to eat at different times. The location of Dreamtime is a little out of the city centre but a short walk into town (took 15 minutes to walk to the lagoon...but lots of shops and bars/restaurants on the way) 5 minutes to the main shopping mall where there are a variety of shops and a good food court. A big Coles is situated inside the left entrance so was very handy to grab dinner on the way back from town. I found the staff very friendly and helpful, if i was to work in a hostel I would pick this one. Management are friendly too and get involved with the people staying. Lots of trips available to book at the reception and the staff know a lot about them and have been on some of the trips themselves. Reception hours are 7.-12 and 4 - 8/9 so have to make sure you go on the net in these times or sort anything out before it closes. Can be quiet at night when reception is shut as most people have gone out or gone to bed. If you want a loud party atmosphere this isnt the place to go, although it depends on who is staying there and its what you make it, had nights playing drinking games with other travellers but had chilled nights too. Would recommend staying here if you are after a chilled few days.

Liked: Clean, AC rooms with fully equipped kitchens - oven was a welcome bonus. Really nice vibe about the place and super helpful staff. Great to have a pool when the temperature is hitting 35 degrees. Great selection of nights including movie nights with free popcorn and an all you can eat Aussie BBQ buffet. Fast Internet connection and good book swop. We'd spent 2 nights at Caravella's before this and it wasn't a patch on Dreamtime!!

Disliked: Nothing! Super minor grumble is 10 min walk to Esplanade but that's having stayed at Caravella's which was opposite it... so no complaints really.

Liked: the atmosphere is great! their pizza, bbq and movie nights are very nice! The pool is nice to cool down or just to relax in the hammocks. I loved the fact that there were no bunk beds and we had just 3 beds in our dorm! The internet is maybe not the cheapest, but it works very good! Common rooms are nice!

Disliked: The bathrooms were not the cleanest, but maybe this also depends on the other people staying in the hostel, because I saw that the staff cleaned them twice a day!

Liked: The hostel is really well laid out with plenty of social areas to chill in. There is something going on every night which is cool but none of it is wild so you can choose to do your own thing if you want. Loved our stay and would definitely stay again.

Disliked: Only problem really with this hostel is the kitchen was too small for the amount of guests and it desperately needs some more sharp knifes in it!

Liked: Very nice hostel, not just a place to sleep at but fun to hang around during the day as well. Nice rest areas, swimming pool. Staff very helpful.

Liked: Dreamtime is a great hostel with nice big and comfy bedrooms (we stayed in deluxe double). It is very quiet and peaceful at night as it is a bit away from the town, but saying that it is only a short 5 min walk to the shops, bars, restaurants. They do themed evenings (bbq, pizza, films) which are always a good opportunity to meet fellow travellers and have fun. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Our stay was very enjoyable.

Disliked: I can't think of anything we didn't like about Dreamtime.

Liked: Such a lovely stay!!! Staff was great, couldn't have asked for more help! Willing to go out of their way to make our stay great. They also kept us involved with what what going on in the area. The atmosphere was excellent as well...clean, well kept, and up beat and refreshing.

Disliked: Atmosphere, location, staff, cleanliness; the inclusion of an occasion free meal/snack, and getting to see a fire show on property!
