This cheerful hostel has a nice swimming pool surrounded by palm trees, or just relax whilst watching your favourite movie with a cup of tea or coffee.

We offer clean, spacious double, twin, single and dorm rooms. Some have air conditioning units, all have ceiling fans, fridges and a shelving unit with hanger space for your clothes.

Available to all our guests is the BBQ area, a large clean kitchen, and free e-mail computers. The friendly and helpful staff have expert knowledge of the local tours and will make your stay a memorable one.

Every night you stay with us at Castaway's we provide you with a FREE EVENING MEAL at the World Famous Woolshed Backpacker Restaurant in the heart of Cairns. The meals are from a set menu and for A$5 or A$6 you can upgrade to the full menu.
We also provide free TEA & COFFEE all day

Pick-ups - We provide a free pick from Cairns Airport, the train station and the bus transit terminal between 7.30am and 7.30pm.
Email - We have free terminals for you to send e-mails and keep in touch with friends and the folks back home.
Travel agency - Licensed travel agency on site . Whether you need local, regional or national help our on-site no fee booking service & travel agency is here to assist you with all your travel needs whilst in Australia, including airfares, coach, bus and rail travel.



Hostel Facilities
Access For clients arriving late at Castaway's you have 24 hour access. Your room key will not only open your room door but also the FRONT door.
Deck

Relax by the pool

The pool is a great place to meet new people and soak up the tropical sun on the deck for the great Australian Tan. Around the pool there are sunbathing lounges, seating and tables. Of course if you get to hot you can sit under the waterfall up the deep end.

Courtesy Bus - Even though Castaway's is only 10 min walk to town we provide a courtesy shuttle, from early morning until well into the evening, to ferry you to town

Kitchen - Castaway's has a huge kitchen with heaps of space, a couple of microwaves, sinks, toasters, kettles and cook tops.
Laundry In the Laundry area there are plenty of washing machines, dryers and a ironing board.
Storage Whether you are going on an overnight trip to the Daintree, the Great Barrier Reef or just departing late we can store your luggage in a secure locked up room.

TV / video - We have a very comfortable TV/Video lounge with a selection of free movies for your enjoyment. This is a great place to show your videos of your trip.
Kiosk We operate a small kiosk where you can get all the little things, breakfast, drinks, washing powder, razors, matches, stamps, postcards and pens.

Social nights - Free Wine & Cheese nights twice a week are a great way to mix with fellow travelers, swap stories and have a chat. These nights are a great way to start a "Woolie party hardy" night.
Divers Just about every one involved with Castaway's is crazy about the diving or snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef. Just ask any of the staff and they will give you their option.
