Liked: Gilligan's was wicked! so much fun! don't really suggest it for non-party people though. it was very loud in the common areas on each floor til early in the morning-so early that then it was loud due to people waking up. but other than that i absolutely loved it. the bar is great. the pool looks great, though it was raining the whole time i was there.only thing i didn't like - there was a shortage of staff at the front desk. so even if you just had a quick question, you were usually waiting in like a 20mins line up to ask some one. ridiculous!also, cheaper or free internet would be nice!

Liked: Good location, but way too much of a party hostel. We've stayed at other large hostels (like Wake Up! in Sydney, which is awesome), but this one is awful in comparison. Great if all you want to do is party, but if you are looking for sleep, go elsewhere. Rooms are clean enough (showers, etc), but each room has a balcony, most with people smoking and playing drinking games until late. NOISE CARRIES like CRAZY, not sure why. Their was one really nice german (maybe?) staff member, but the other people weren't that friendly. Also, their baggage room is not that secure, did not feel safe leaving my things in there. Oh, and they advertize free meals, but the night we arrived, the choice was something like either tomato soup or salami spaghetti... gross.

Liked: It can get loud at night, but it's a huge fun place to be. THere's a large kitchen on every floor, en-suite bathrooms, and a TV lounge on every floor, although there are only 6 channels and no DVD player. There's not much going on that's outside the bar, so there were no movie nights or anything like that, but there's a small fake beach and waterfall, plus the nightclub. The beds are big and comfortable, but there were no lockers in my room.

Liked: how it was more like a resort than a hostel, the fact that each room had its own bathroom, each floor its own kitchen and clean, comfortable bedding. loved the pool and the decking looking over it. only complaint was we couldnt work out how to turn down the aircon and i froze up on the top bunk! i have already recommended gilligans to other mates going up north and was blown away by the value for money (free meals with a drink!) and the help we hot from the girl in the tourist info section in organizing our holiday

Liked: It was great great great great to stayed at Gilligians, they got a super nice club there, cool DJ and easy to meet ppl. The location is super!! it's ln the city and take less than few mins walk , u can find all u need around !We stayed at a 4 beds room and the window cannot be opened which makes the room a lil smelly, anyway the room is clean and facilites are enough for wht u need.Gilligans made us come back to Cairns for holidays next year coz we reli love the club there!!hahah
