Liked: This is the best hostel I have ever stayed in! The staff are friendly and the most helpful people you will ever meet. Its really easy to meet other travellers too, with the way its set out. Its a 20min walk from the centre, but there is a free bus that takes you in and out many times of the day. So comfortable too. Air conditioning costs $1 for 3hours but we just used the fan in the room as its free and there is plenty of air flow. All I can say is this hostel is AMAZING! I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.

Liked: The staff and the atmosphere are so cool! Helen and Laura are so helpful, and in general all people there are so cool.

Disliked: A little far from the center, that's all, but the atmosphere is so nice that you don't even bother it.

Liked: Amazing hostel, one of the best I have stayed in! Staff amazingly helpful and friendly, big aussie bbq on the monday night soooo tasty, pool great to cool off in the Cairns heat, rooms clean and spacious (we had a double room with tv and fridge) - the description doesn't do it justice! We were helped to book trips without pushy sales and when one of us was ill they were able to re-arrange our trip for no extra charge. Free meals at the Woolshed are average pasta-type dishes but amazing (and huge!) for free! And for $8 you can upgrade to a $16 meal, the steak is pretty much as big as your head - best value around! I would recommend this hostel to anyone wanting a slightly quieter and relaxing option, and who wants to feel like they are getting much more than they have paid for!

Disliked: As people have mentioned, it's a little far from town, about 25 mins walk. However there are free shuttle buses from the hostel and town pretty much every hour in the morning and afternoon so getting into Cairns is no problem! They will even drop you off for free at the harbour for certain trips :)

Liked: Camped here. Staff were great, the owner has two hostels and him and his wife still work at both. He also makes an effort to remember names and what people are up to. It rained heavily and we got a bit wet in our tent but they dried our stuff for free. Heavily recommend the BBQ night.

Disliked: On pizza night, the staff were a bit eager to finish off leftover pizza. Lots of us hadn't even finished

Liked: 3-bed dorm was very spacious. Facilities were really clean. Free wifi. Receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful. Free shuttle bus very handy. Definitely one of the best hostel we have stayed in!

Disliked: Female owner(?)'s manner towards guests not that friendly. Accused us of leaving a mess when in fact we cleaned up after others. Don't let this put you off as everything else about the place was amazing!!!

Liked: Friendliest staff I have ever met in a hostel. Extremly clean rooms and bathrooms. Nice decoration. The location is a little bit off the main centre, but the hostel has its one shuttle bus! There is a nice area outside, where people can sit around till 10pm. The atmosphere is similar to a huge family. We booked a dive trip before and they brought us to the centre for free (together with other divers who booked via the hostel)! One of the best hostels I have ever had!

Liked: We absolutely loved our stay here. The staff were incredibly friendly and did a wonderful job of creating an inviting and inclusive environment.

Disliked: The only slight drawback is it is about a 15-20 minute walk into town. They do have free shuttles that the operate several times a day and especially in the case of snorkeling and diving cruises they drop you directly at the harbor in the morning.

Liked: It's friendly,really vety helpful and kind sweet staff!!!with comfy beds and homely toilets.

Disliked: It's distance from town? Luckily there is the shuttle service that runs between because i wouldn't risk walking back at night at all as there is not much lights on the way and pretty much too quiet at night.too quiet.

Liked: I like the atmosphere most. Every monday a BBQ party is held in the evening. It's a chance to meet people and enjoy foods.

Liked: Time here was excellent, staff are very helpful indeed. Although not in the centre of town it doesnt really affect you as the walk isnt too long and there are shuttle buses anyway. Gabe is a great host I hope you get to meet him! Lots of space to chill out. Much help with onward travel

Liked: * friendly staff * the best cooking facilities we saw in australia (so many plates. cutlery etc) * FREE INTERNET * clean spacious dorms * walking distance to shopping centre and supermarket * FREE MEALS at local pub with free transport there!

Disliked: rooms got very hot, so prepare to pay extra for the aircon (pay as you go basis - keep some 1 dollar coins handy and make sure you get them before reception closes!)
