Liked: Had a pretty nice pool and the air con is good. The reception staff are really good as a tour booking place if u need them (but there are cheaper places elsewhere!). On the esplanade not too far from the lagoon so location is pretty good.

Disliked: Bit of a walk to places like The Woolshed and especially Gilligans. A slightly more substantial bathroom door would be nice as would slightly better shower facilities. Also, quite a few older people staying here, which isn't always the best thing if you want to meet fellow young travellers. Maybe I just got unlucky with my room though.

Liked: The (4-bed) room was spacious. The bathroom was clean. Loads of space for cooking. Nice pool. Lots of room for socialising outside. The staff were really helpful. Free pick up from airport. Free dinner! We were even dropped off for the greyhound bus. No complaints. Made some great friends and would definitely return.

Disliked: Perhaps a more substantial bathroom door would be nice! Otherwise nothing to complain about.

Liked: you get a free evening meal at a local restaurant for every night you stay.the room we had was a good size and the ensuite good. the staff were really helpful and really nice and booked our tours for us.good atmosphere.i would definitely recommend this hostel to backpackers.

Disliked: i really liked it as somewhere to stay overall but on the last day we did find several cockroaches in our room and in the fridge which wasnt too nice, but when we told them, they said they were going to spray the room to prevent it and they did.

Liked: The helpful staff, always willing to chat and give advice if unsure of what to do. Free meals were basic but a good way to save abit of money. Recently awarded 2nd best hostel in AUSTRALIA-definately worth it!

Liked: The staff were very friendly, even knew me by my first name, not a noisy hostel, so managed to sleep at night :) I was also upgraded to a double room which was awesome!

Liked: Cairns is relatively small, but the hostel has a good location-- easy to walk to the town center. It has a great kitchen to prepare food, the staff is fairly helpful and friendly.

Disliked: Internet was about $4AUD per hour, common rooms are shut down on the earlier side. However, they do encourage you to go to a bar/restaurant (The Woolshed), with meal passes and free entry so you could socialize over there instead. I think there are some other travel agencies (Peter Pan's) that could get similar tours for a few dollars cheaper, and allow you to use internet there for free for a short time.

Liked: Gloria (owner? manager? staff?) was at first intimidating, but turned out to be great.

Disliked: No lockers, the safe closed at very odd times meaning that you had to carry around valuables for most of the day if youwanted to see them again for another 12 hours.

Liked: Hostel is close to city center but not right in de middle of all the bars. Therefore it was nice and quiet if you wanted to get some sleep in the evening. The kitchen was clean, but could use some more pots and pans and dishes.
