Liked: Decent location at the bottom end of the Esplanade. Very short walk to Lagoon and CBD. Staff friendly and good at organising trips and events for you. Decent size pool and loungers... nicely set out backpackers.

Disliked: Very basic accomodation with little to no storage space, weekly bin and linen changing (sometimes slightly longer) and EARLY morning cleaners hosing down pool/sitting areas and cleaning.... roughly 4.30-5.00am.

Disliked: It was not quite as close as I thought it would be but no big deal there.

Liked: This hostel is very cheap, the free meal is tastey and the pool is not only clean but well used and a great place to meet other backpackers. The dorms are clean as are the big kitchens. I really enjoyed my stay here and preffered it to the bigger crazier hostels as it was really laid back and chilled with a good crowd to keep me company.

Disliked: I didnt like the noise curfew which Gloria enforced a bit too stricktly - telling us off for chatting outside at 9.30pm when the noise curfew is 11pm. It made me feel like I was a kid again being told to behave and if it wasnt for everyone finding the funny side in it it could have ruined not only our nights but also our whole stay.

Liked: It was right in front of the beach and across the street from a really cool park....it's not in the mddle of town, but close enough!

Disliked: Our bathroom was right in the front office, so it was a hassle sometimes to get to that bathroom.

Liked: Very clean and great swimming pool!! All staff is kind and friendly!!

Disliked: To stand in the shower you have to be under 170cm!!

Liked: Very clean, very good location (laguna, shops and bars within 5 mins walking distance), very friendly and helpful staff (we booked a lot of tours in their travel office, received some discounts and even a night for free in the hostel), free meals at the woolshed are quite good (upgrade to bigger meals for 5/7/9dollars possible). Really worth the money.

Liked: clean, spacious rooms with fridge, fan or air con. Staff were very friendly and aware of whose who. Good selection of trips and tours which the staff assist with booking. The swimming pool is a bonus to help you cool down

Disliked: Toilets seem a little far from the upstairs dorms.....

Liked: Very cheap room ($15), upgraded to 6 bed with air conditioning on arrival. Staff were really helpful with luggage storage, advice and booking an airport bus. Stayed at a few hostels in Cairns and this was by far the best.

Disliked: Can be a bit quiet in the evenings, but then everyone goes to the Woolshed to party anyway.
