Liked: It was pretty central to most places

Disliked: The common room probably needs some improvement. Pretty run down.

Liked: Excellent location right opposite the pool and esplanade..... But that is about it....

Disliked: No water pressure or hot water in the showers during my stay, toilets were dilapidated and messy, room smelled of mould and had air conditioning which turned on but did nothing to cool the room... Overall a very unpleasant stay, but at least we were only there for two nights.... Otherwise would have changed hostels after the first night....

Liked: Nothing location I good but all hostels in Cairns have that

Disliked: Very dirty very noisy wooden shutters for windows not enoug sinks, toilets, showers poor air con generally terrible don't come here!!!

Liked: Excellent hostel - staff friendly, rooms (double in our case) are basic but clean and all you really need. Bathrooms clean and you were able to go straight to toilet/shower without queuing (ladies) Although we had our tours pre-booked the travel desk staff were extremely helpful and always had time for a 'hello, how are you?' Hostel is securely locked at night and entry is via night key so you feel really safe.

Liked: Fabulous location! Beautiful lagoon just in front of the hostel. Very friendly staff (especially the Swedish cute blonde).

Disliked: The kitchen is like the Augean stables with roaches running freely! There's no way it can be kept clean with so many backpackers - it should be closed down. Free meals in PJ O'Briens are more like starters or desserts, but PJ is a great place to dine in when in Cairns.

Liked: its location, thats it! not worth it!

Disliked: it was dirty and there were no plug sockets in the room or even outside the door! the room smells and the curtains were filthy and hanging off the walls, the two bunkbeds in the 4 bed dorm were bent forward and out of shape, there was a large lake in the middle of the toilets floor where the toilet was leaking, cleaning the room consisted of emptying the bin! the windows didnt open, the fan was a small, noisey, office fan, stuck on the roof, you could not talk when it was on as it was so loud, the balcony outside our window was where every1 hung out to smoke and drink til all hours! and they could see in our window due to curtains not closing properly! nowhere to sit in room or on balcony or out in hall, lounge area closed at 10pm so nowhere to go but tiny balcony with no chairs! no towels to hire and the sometimes the staff gave out the wrong things from the SAFE! no lockers in the rooms, showers wer fairly dirty too!

Liked: Really pushy tour desk. Unhelpful staff when wanting to rearrange our plans. Really uncomfortable beds with springs in your back all night. Very loud air con unit in room blaring out all day and night. Free meal was tiny and terrible - barely worth the effort of going to get it. Good location though.

Liked: Location is the only good thing

Disliked: Most things. Especially the noise during the night. If you are looking for a good nights sleep you are really not going to find it here, unless you want to go to bed in the morning at 6am which is about when the niose is at a descent level to get some sleep!

Liked: This backpacker is a fabulous place to stay!!What is amazing it is the helpfulness and the friendliness of the staff... i have never met people as nice as them!!Their offive to book tour (for the Great Barrier Reaf or for other tours) is just fantastic!!You should go there, you will meet marvellous people!!
