Liked: Good value for money, good location, friendly staff, peaceful ( at least then when we were there), breakfast.

Disliked: If they would like to change something there then I would advise to start with bathrooms.

Liked: The location was fairly good. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Disliked: When deciding where to stay while on holiday in Cairns, it was between BHA Central (this hostel) and Gilligan's (where all of my friends were staying). I chose BHA Central because it was $5 cheaper per night. However, the airport shuttle cost me $10 each way, whereas at Gilligan's the airport shuttle is free. Right there, I knew the decision to stay at BHA Central over Gilligan's was a bad one. But it gets worse. The pool is tiny! and the views are non-existant. The other guests in the hostel were unfriendly and shady. The advertisement of free breakfast in the mornings was quite misleading. I never saw one breakfast served for the four mornings I was at BHA Central. Also, the bathrooms were so dirty!! And in very inconvenient locations. I should have chosen Gilligan's as my hostel for my holiday in Cairns. It would have been the best value for my money. Gilligan's is much, much better all around with nice, clean rooms (with bathrooms per room!) and a neat sand pool and fun bar. Gilligan's location is supreme as well. It's surrounded by cafes and shopping centers and is just a few blocks from the beach. I felt safer at Gilligan's than when I had to walk all the way back to BHA Central at night. Overall, Gilligan's would have been the smarter decision. The $5/night that I "saved" initially wound up being insignificant.

Liked: The staff is superfriendly and I just loved that kitchen:clean and super equipped!!!Excellent value for your money!!!And i forgot the big choice of the free breakfast! Thumbs up:)

Liked: - Breakfast was awesome seriously 4 different types of cereals, loads of bread, milk, coffee, tea, everything you need really. remarkably good for a hostel! - Early check-in available so when you get to Cairns you can mostyl get straight into your room, reception opens at 6.30am - kicthen is super clean and well equipped with all the cooking gear - it was a bit quiet when I stayed there but at least you could sleep and go paryting somewhere else... - it's worth it to check their tour offers -make sure you book with hostelbookers cos that way it's only $15/night for a 6 bed dorm

Disliked: - house keeping comes into your room at 9am to hoover...not every day though but quite often

Disliked: breakfast too simple, sometimes you arrive at 9.15 am and the breakfast is finish normally its until 9.30 am!! The bad customer relationship one night my roomates were vomiting in my room until 1 am to 4 am i ask the manager to do something because i cant sleep it was disgusting he did nothing jus said U dont have to look at the vomit on the bed and that's ok!!! One men of the staff entered a lot of time in our room or in the female bathroom without knocked before and when with my roomates we said this to the reception the manager didn't trust us, unbelievable !!! The people in this hostel were strange and one were smoking everytime in his room nobody said nothing! So it's good for a couple of nights but for sure no more!!!!

Liked: There is quite a large kitchen which has tones of utensils and cooking equipment to use without a deposit. It's also a good location for the bars and restaurants but a bit of a trek from the greyhound bus stop. We were told as well by other backpackers that the washing/drying facilities were great value

Disliked: The reception closes between 11am and 3.30pm meaning that when you come from a long journey like the 18 hour one we did all you can do is leave your bag there until reception opens. There seems to be no reason why it closes, this also means Internet is unavailable during those hours (unless you sit outside reception on wifi), as well as the booking of any tours from reception. Although there are a lot of activities advertised, we were there for six days and nothing happened, no BBQ, no meet and greet, no movie night. Instead the movie room has one broken fan and seems to turn Into a sauna at the appearance of sunlight. Also the bar next door is far from backpacker friendly, so when you want a cheap beer near to your room you can't because you're also not allowed alcohol either in your room, or in the kitchen/lounge area. We were also rudely woken at 9am one morning on a hangover being told to report to reception for a mistake they made. It was comfy but i wouldn't go again.

Liked: Just so so. Really nothing in room other than beds. The internet connection does not work with my laptop.And I paid 7$ more than my roommate every night for the average stay, crasy price from hostelbookers. quite disappointed here.

Liked: The hostel is in a perfect location!! It is 2 blocks away from the main night life and like a 5 minute walk to the beach! The rooms were very clean and the hostel was very nice and modern inside!! However the rules here are VERY strick and the hostel is also ver OVERPRICED!! The internet is $5 min for an hour, if u walk to sheilds street (2min away) you can get free 30 mins or a doller an hour!! We also found a cheaper private room for ony $20 a night around the corner! Overall it was a lovely place to stay! But there are cheaper and better places to stay if you are a backpacker on a budget :)

Liked: Just sayed 1 night-on our way through to Daintree region. Clean, desk staff very helpful. Airport pickup. Front desk open 24 hours which helped with our late check in (late flight getting in) Grea breakfast!
