Liked: More a Bed and Breakfast than a hostel. Very helpful with booking tours and lovely cake at breakfast!!

Liked: We had a really nice, big and clean room, and the place is calm. Alba, the hostess, is really fun, helpful and friendly - she did a lot to make our stay in Ushuaia great for example helped us with bus tickets, car rental and general advice.

Disliked: A little far from the center, but for us it wasn't really a problem, because it's only a 10-15 minutes walk, and it's near a supermarket, a very nice bakery and a pizzaria.

Liked: Very clean. Good breakfast. Good explanations of things to do in the region given by owner.But, owner tends to over charge for extra services: laundry, airport transfer, beagle canal cruise. Problems with flushing the toilet in room.

Liked: The place is clean and safe. Unfortunately the place is run by a woman who sees the cup as half empty, rather than half full. For the short time we had in Ushuaia she stated that she couldn't explain anything, because we had no time. In fact there was enough time to visit the museums, walk up to the glacier, walk through the national park, have a couple of nice dinners etc. She showed no interest in het guests, the only contact we had with her was listeting to complaints that she was soooo tired. Breakfast had some variety, but everything was premeasured, and was barely enough to feed one person, rather than two.

Liked: The rooms are well appointed, very clean with eveything you need. The only three downsides are no kitchen, small portions for breakfast and location as the hostel is slightly out of town. Having said that, Ushuaia is a small, safe town so the walk of ten minutes from hostel to town is not really an issue. Alba was forthcoming with information on activities in the area. We would recommend this hostel to others.

Liked: Casa de Alba is a lovely establishment. The rooms are cosy, clean and homely. Alba is really fabulous and every effort is made to make you feel welcome. Its in a quiet neighbourhood 10 minutes from San Martin and its a lovely walk home from the centre after a day in the town or out in the parks. If you want a place to rest up and get some home comforts this is it; and its great value for money. Thank you Alba!

Liked: Everything except the same breakfast every day for 5 days became a bit tedious and the butter was rationed so that it did not even cover the toast and 2 centimetres of yoghurt in glass was supplied. However, overall there was enough food.

Liked: Alba takes care of your every need. She is especially helpful in arranging local tours and giving advice on how to keep your costs low. Apart from that, she is a spirited person whose caring style permeates every part of the hostel. And for those of us still struggling to speak Spanish, she offers her ¨bad English¨ instead.

Liked: The best hostel we´ve been to by far! Spotless, quiet, great homy atmosphere, nicely designed and Alba is very helpful and kind. The only downside is the price of the laundry there, if you can - take it elsewhere.

Liked: The proprietress was extremely helpful and friendly. She arranged my trip to the nearby national park and advised me about interesting sites around Ushuaia.. She also served an very good breakfast individually for each guest.

Liked: We went back to Alba's throughout all January as we were in Tierra del Fuego for about a month hiking. In the end it felt more or less like coming home :)Alba really tries to help everyone and she knows the area well. The house is kept in very good shape (compared to many other places we've stayed in in Patagonia hers was the best without discussion) and you can see that she really lives for her small business. It is a bit outside town, but quiet. If you look for a place to relax Alba's is it!
