Disliked: worst exprience during our 4 weeks trip to South America, major dissapointment. we booked a "standard twin". what that really was is a bunkbed for 2, in the lousiest, smallest, worst ventillated room I ve ever been to (and we've been around the world). i feel ripped off, a standard twin is NOT a twin room, but a dorm for 2... of course the price was nothing like a dorm's... The attitude of the owner was devestatingly arrogant. The shared bathroom was dirty, the shower was completely clogged, so we were taking showers in ankle deep water for 2 days, the toilet clogged and did not get fixed for a whole day. The breakfast was cheap, almost non-existent. I'd never ever recommend this place to anybody.

Liked: It was a nice hostel with a good staff, great breakfast, well equiped kitchen and nice garden (small pool). Good advice on tours. Travel atmosphere was perfect!

Disliked: You get a paper bracelet to wear during your stay. When you book a private room with bathroom in the garden, then your bathroom is not in your room. You have to go outside to enter the shower and the WC (although you are the only one using it)

Liked: Very little.

Disliked: Cant comment on the dorms but the double rooms were really poor value and not very good. Quite dirty. Not sealed at all; holes to the noisy bar area (which was noisy even when it was just staff there). They were advertised as en-suite but actually were not. There was a private shower outside the door and a shared toilet with the other double room (and the bar!) around the corner. There was never any hot water while we were there (3 nights!). "pool" was tiny and filthy. Bar was expensive for Mendoza. Staff not helpful. Refused to give us 20% Get South discount because we had booked online (we had called and been told to book online!) and tried to charge us for ensuite rooms when they weren't.

Liked: Staff were initially very friendly.

Disliked: After three days of no hot water (we highlighted the problem to staff each day), I still did not manage to have a warm or even luke warm shower! I was also threatened by police action if i did not pay the full amount, despite the polite request for a discount due to the cold water.

Liked: I had a great stay here and would highly recommend it. Staff were great, the bar was fun and cheap (free shots even!) and I had no complaints. Bathrooms and beds are okay, nothing to write home about, but not as bad as some of the reviews below state (hot water both days). I got in at 6am on an overnight bus and was given a room right away, and welcomingly invited to stay around the next day until 10pm and use the kitchen, etc until my next overnight bus--that´s not something many places offer. I would and will probably stay here again.

Disliked: The only thing I would tell people is our room was cold at night, but plenty of blankets. Didn´t bother me one bit, but I know some people can be pretty sensative about that.

Liked: The hostel is very well looked after and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Our Spanish can be a little haphazard, but all the staff speak fluent English in the event that you make absolutely no sense at all! Wifi was super dooper, some of the best we've found in SA. Rooms good size and not overcrowded and beds pretty compfy. Nice garden area and ping-pong table. Pool out of action, but then it is winter! Amazing location, literally 2 mins from Plaza Independencia and easy walk to bus terminal. Thoroughly recommended.

Disliked: Not much, but perhaps could do with a few more bathrooms for the number of people, but if you're relaxed then this isn't a major issue.

Liked: Fantastic location, excellent facilities and amazingly friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast basic but decent. Private double room was large and bathroom shared with only one other room. Quiet enough on the whole. Nice communal areas. Clean.

Disliked: Not being able to bring own wine into the hostel is a bit annoying as would have liked to sample various local varieties in the comfort of the hostel. That being said, their vino tinto was reasonable for AR$25. Tours through the attached agency very expensive but clearly offer a bespoke service so may be worth it.

Liked: Great location and staff were very helpful and informative.

Disliked: sadly we were there during off season so it was a little quiet. the only real complaints would be we only managed to get one warm shower each and the ban on bringing in your own alcoholic beverages. This is fine as they have a fridge very limited fridge service and a bar. However the bar was closed for 3 of the 4 nights we stayed and the fridge was only refilled on the last night.

Liked: Good location for restaurants, bars and the town centre. Nicely laid out hostel with bar area outside, there is a really good travel office too for booking tours etc. Dorm rooms have nice big lockers. Good wifi downstairs, stored bags for free on our last day.

Disliked: The number of beds advertised in an ensuite dorm room should be the number of beds that share the bathroom. Our 6 bed ensuite dorm was actually an 18 bed ensuite dorm with a couple of doors separating the beds. But you shared the same tiny bathroom with 17 other people. Its not really a big deal, it just seems like false advertising.

Liked: I stayed here on my own over Easter weekend and i found it to be a really welcoming and friendly place to stay. The wonderful staff can all speak English, and held happy hours and bbqs to get everyone together. My bed was comfy and i never had to wait for the (warm) shower. Also easy walking distance from the main parks and bars. Fantastic!!

Disliked: Nothing to complain about.

Liked: From day 1 the staff were very welcoming and made you feel like you were a long lost friend. We ended up coming back to this hostel after going to Chile and stayed for another 2 and half weeks, we called it our second home. This is a great place to meet people and we've met friends here that we will always be in touch with. We haven't stayed in place where everything has been spot on before, the staff are exceptional and always ready to help you out. The hostel offers plenty of communal space whether you want to be near the bar and socialise or whether you want to relax in the front room this hostel offers it all. We were sad to leave Moneky Hostel and the people we'd met there, staff and travellers.

Disliked: The only form of criticism is that the place could do with a bit of a fix up, in regards to the bathroom's and the beds. I.e some of the bathrooms did not have locks.. And some of the beds and sheets had seen better days.

Liked: I liked the breakfast -- it was available till 11am and there was cereal and bread with jam although the juice a was really watered down. The argentinian lady in the evening was very helpful and helped us move rooms when we were not happy into a room 10 times better in the main building. After complaining about the bed bugs, we were given a hefty discount at the end of our stay and told they would look into the infestation and get it under control.

Disliked: Thwe worst hostel we have stayed in so far! Don't stay in the outside garden rooms - they are like outdoor SHEDS with outhouses. The room we stayed in was a tiny twin room riddled with BED BUGS (I got bitten around 80 times and am still itching 1 week later covered in ugly lumps and bumps. The bed sheets did not fit the beds so you end up sleeping just on the mattress. The toilets were smashed up by revellers from the disco bar outside the room - mirror smashed and toilet door doesn't even close, nevermind lock! We complained and they said they would fix it within a couple of days but couldn't and said they would fit a cheap temporary lock but didn't. The outdoor shower for our room had a see through curtain for everyone to see you in all your glory and surrounded by flies. We stayed in the garden room and then a double room by the breakfast area - both were really noisy so don't stay here if you plan on getting to sleep from the boom boom music ends of around 3am or at least bring ear plugs! There was a tiny swimming pool which you had to clean yourself if you fancied a dip but it just looked dirty and unmaintained. You can't bring your own alcohol into the hostel and the house wine (only 2 cheap red options) tastes awful which is criminal for Mendoza! The bar also ran out of most drinks and seemed to just have beer or wine!
