Liked: Ariel, the owner, is super friendly and helpful. We took advantage of the offer that was on to buy 4 nights and get a 5th night free. We ended up staying longer!! This was the best hostel we have stayed at in South America in 4 months, ignore the old reviews. This place is homely, friendly, clean with hot water and nice rooms!

Liked: It was a quiet and friendly hostel.

Disliked: Kind of far from town. However we had a car so it wasn't a problem and taking a taxi to and from was very easy and fairly cheap.

Liked: Owner is very friendly and helpful. Free upgrade of room was great!

Disliked: The communal tables are right next to the rooms, so when the world's most tedious drunk American decided to stay up til 5am talking loudly about nothing, it meant that nobody in the other rooms got any sleep.

Liked: Only the people I have met.

Disliked: Dirty pool, the superficially-friendly owner Ariel that you cannot trust, the hostel is not at all close to downtown and you cannot walk to the hostel after sunset as the area around is too dangerous and sketchy.

Liked: Friendly staff, ok breakfast and free good wine. The bathroom in de dobble room was very big and nice. Free transport from en too te busstation.

Disliked: it was a bit far from the centre, 10 blocks by foot.

Disliked: really bad location outside of town in unsafe area, made us feel bad about mendoza in general. strange atmosphere with the whole family staying around. computer was always occupied by owner's son in order to play games...

Disliked: food stolen from fridge 3 times. pool a little dirty. location not good, but safe. very small kitchen. younger child very irritating, and rome around house in an untrustworthy way.

Liked: Excellent and spacious backyard with pool (small but good:). The owner, Ariel, is very friendly and helps you with everything you need. The bathroom is very big (at least in the triple room). Free wine, all you can drink!

Disliked: A bit far from the center, the neighbourhood can be a bit sketchy.

Liked: Ariel the owner is possibly the nicest man in Argentina, he has lived in Mendoza all his life which is more than 50 years and he knows everthing about the area. As the hostel offers complimentary malbec wine, it´s a great way to start your stay. There is a day trip with a local guide called Louis which I also highly recommend.

Disliked: The bed linen could do with replacing (but that´s true of every hostel) and unfortunately the hostel is a 15min walk from the centre of town, however the friendly atmosphere, free wine and swimming pool are more than enough to compensate . . . . and a little walk never hurt anyone!

Liked: Ariel (the owner) was very helpful in organising my trips around Mendoza. He picks you up from the bus station. He is a really nice guy!

Disliked: The free wine is a nice offer but it was not very tasteful. To get just drunk it should work.

Liked: Good place to stay if not a little cramped in the rooms and kitchen. The owner is fantastic with thankfully great English. Situated a little way from town but in a seemingly safe part of town. Cool place to chill and the free wine certainly helps.

Liked: This is a hostel that has so much potential but falls short... First impressions were good but rapidly changed. The owner is nice enough when you first meet him but soon shows himself to be a sleazy businessman. Because i booked through Hosetelbookers I was paying 3.5 times the rate of anyone else and the eventual discount he offered us after two days was still double that of a couple in an identical room. Several times he offered us a lift to one place or another for what can seem a reasonable price per person but turns out to be an extrordinary rip off! (70pesos each way for 14 people to visit a local restaurant - with 4 people per taxi this would cost a total of about 32pesos each way using 4 taxis - What he was asking for a one way trip was the same as a taxi fare for 4 people to a hot springs 1hr outside the city!) - He is a man who preys on ignorance of value for money amongst many tourists.In addition we had heard that the dorm room had been sprayed for bedbugs that turned up in our room 2 days later - we lost use of our room for a whole day with bareley an apology and no offer of compensation or allowance for the inconveneince - His 9yr old son runs around unchecked and undisciplend playing loud music when guests are watching TV/Movies and helps himself to stuff in the fridge without asking.In short I would not recommend this place to anyone and suggest you look elsewhere - there are many good/better hostels in Mendoza

Liked: Stayed for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed the pool, free wine and atmosphere of this hostel. It is a great place to meet other travels because of its size.
