Liked: The lady who worked there, Gabriela, was very friendly and helpful. Reasonably clean rooms, bathrooms not very clean. Very few people stayed there - we needed that after a long bus ride, but it would have been bad if we wanted to meet other people!

Disliked: We arrived to Esquel on a bus that was due in at 11.30PM; however due to delays we did not arrive until 4.30AM. On arrival at this hostel, the person who was supposed to let us in was asleep and did not hear us despite constant knocking at the door and ringing the bell (he was sleeping at the back of the hostel in our dorm room). Needless to say, this was the last thing we wanted after a very long bus journey on a chilly night. We eventually got let in at 6.30AM when the daytime person arrived. The next day, the owner refused us a discount in spite of leaving us in the cold for 2 hours and remaining loyal to our reservation (and going to the trouble of finding a taxi at 4.30AM, something that is very difficult in Esquel) and so rather than staying another night (we hadn't booked, but would have stayed had the owner been more accommodating), we left. The owner also told us that we were entitled to some form of compensation as our bus was more than 3 hours late - on speaking to the bus company and other people, this is incorrect. They only do this when it is more like 24 hours late - Patagonian roads are very poor and delays are common. I find it hard to believe that the owner did not know this. Point is - do not book this hostel if you are on a long bus ride in Patagonia!!!!! They are often delayed and this hostel was practically empty. If you arrive between 1AM and 5AM (when there are few/no taxis), there is a hostel across the road from the bus terminal. The location is very bad for Esquel - 20 minutes walk from the terminal (it is a small town, with limited taxis at night!). There are several places to stay that are closer to the terminal. Very poor value for money due to our experience there.

Liked: Good communal area, and very clean.

Disliked: Needs a lock on the bathroom door, and more kitchen utensils needed.
