Welcom to Hostel del Glaciar Pioneros. We met a great harmony organizing hostel and hotel type rooms in different buildings. Offering a great atmosphere and the best prices in town!

Hostel del Glaciar Pioneros was founded in 1987 and was completely remodeled in 2002, following Hostelling International®'s high standards.
With over 20 years of continuous work in Calafate, we have grown and have now capacity for over 200 people in different types of accommodation. We also offer an array of services which include a full-service travel agency, restaurant, and our renowned tours.

Although we have grown, our spirit remains the same: to create the place that we would like to find ourselves when traveling - comfortable, reasonably-priced, very clean, and run by friendly people that understand the needs of the independent traveler.

Member of Hostelling International. It features 3 rooms types (shared rooms with bunk beds, standard double and superior double rooms). Max capacity: 140 guests.

We have met a great harmony organizing hostel and hotel type rooms in different buildings. Between them, you can find our Punto de Encuentro Restaurant (The Meeting Point Restaurant), where you can enjoy a great atmosphere and the best prices in town!

We also have an in house travel agency: Patagonia Backpackers, with over fifteen years of active tours.

Shared rooms have individual lockers, parking lot, kitchen for guest use, Wi-Fi and the most important: A great team work!

Accommodation Information

Hostel del Glaciar Pioneros has three dorm types available - 3 beds, 4 beds and 6 beds, and can sleep a total of 94 people.

The private room types available are: STANDARD and SUPERIOR

- Single STANDARD and SUPERIOR rooms come with a comfortable single bed.
- Double/twin STANDARD and SUPERIOR rooms come with a double bed/two single beds.
- Triple and Quad STANDARD rooms come with 2 bunk beds.

Bed sheets are provided, if you stay in a dorm-room, towels can be rent. If you stay in a private room linen is included. All rooms come with lockers. Only superior private rooms come with safes. Reading lights in dorm beds and bathrooms with 24hr hot showers. Hostel del Glaciar Pioneros - Los Pioneros 251 - Z9405 El Calafate - Santa Cruz, Argentina

The hostel is located in "Las Piedras" neighborhood, 2 blocks from Calafate's main avenue. We are 7 minutes walk from downtown.

Our local attraction is Los Glaciares National Park. The National Park is 80 km far from El Calafate...but don't worry you can buy all the tours and transports through our front desk!

We recommend to visit the Moreno glacier with the alternative tour specially formulated to backpackers and nature lovers. The most important glacier to enjoy in second place is the Upsala glacier, if you have enough time you can not miss it!

From our hostel you can also visit the well known chilian National Park "Torres del Paine".

If you're a trekker, you can not miss El Chalten, located in the northern part of the National Park. We have daily bus departures from the hostel without the need to be transported to the bus terminal.
