Liked: The common areas downstairs are just as chilled out as the photos seem! I really loved how comfortable and relaxed you feel here. There's loads of room for all to mingle and chat over brekky or in between excursions, or if you like to stay in your dorm the internet access here is excellent! Celia was on reception when I arrived, and I found her lovely and helpful. Nubia is also a gem. Location was good, there are plenty of varried classes of eateries nearby, and buses or subte are really close for all those day trips outside of San Telmo.

Disliked: Power points are hard to find.

Liked: Compared to a lot of the mega-hostels in BsAs, Puerto Limon had a much more close-knit vibe. The hostel staff were friendly and mingled easily with guests. I felt very relaxed here.

Disliked: Because it's a smaller place, the social scene can be hit or miss. Things were very quiet when I was there, and several of the other guests told me they weren't really "party people." A couple people who had been there longer said things had been much livelier a few days before, so I guess it really just depends on who's staying there. It is BA, though, so if I'm there I'm hoping to go out pretty late on the weekends...

Liked: Good communal area with music playing in the evenings, big comfy couches, nice outdoor courtyard and good vibe. Good location, and is easy to catch the bus to places from the street over and close to San Telmo sunday markets. Would stay here again.

Disliked: Staff were pretty unhelpful. Didnt show us our rooms, where the bathrooms were or the kitchen, and we had to ask for the free towels. Because some didnt speak English they couldnt tell us anything about the area, give us a map or tell us where to catch buses etc. Was a bit overwhelming trying to figure all this out on our first day in South America. Have lockers in the room but mine was really dodgy and didnt close properly, although I think the rest were better. Pretty average breakfast consisting of bread, crackers, tea and coffee.

Liked: The price for a private double with ensuite in BA was excellent. The room was clean and had a great shower.

Disliked: Breakfast was as basic as basic could be - diluted juice, tea/coffee, tiny bits of bread and cake with spreads. Not bad by some other South American standards but not good enough for Argentina where generally the breakfasts have been great. One of the two computers was on the blink and neither were at a desk - you had to rest the keyboard on your lap.

Liked: Lay out meant there was always someone else around. Very friendly but had the impression it was used as a boarding house by some people staying long term in BA.

Disliked: The noise made it impossible to sleep as all the rooms are situated around the communal area and the windows in our dorm seemed to be non existent so lots of noise from the street.. Hard to get some sleep. Kitchen should be condemned. There was a dog belonging to one of the staff which did its poo in the communial area at breakfast time!! Luck I didn't stand in it!! Smoking indoors in all areas so while using the internet you get a good dose of second hand smoke. There is no designated smoking area so people smoke EVERWHERE! Too noisy if you do not want to party, if you want a good night's sleep this is not the place for you.

Liked: Hot water.

Disliked: Upon arrival the guy atthe front desk was very unhelpful and only grudginly gave us information about what to do in BA. Later on there was a girl at the desk who was alot more helpful. On the Friday night there were about 50 people in the communal area all singing and cheering until 4am. We´re not even sure that the people were staying at the hostel. The noise made it impossible to sleep as all the rooms are situated around the communal area.

Liked: it was a very pleasant stay in the hostel. the stuff members are friendly and helpful. the location of the hostel is very good, the birthplace of tango. the antique market is just a few blocks away, and the metro station is nearby as well. the private rooms are behind a yard, so it's quite ok even there is a party overnight.

Disliked: if the room is bigger, it would be perfect.

Liked: Our double ensuite was great - Lonely planet says that this is the best room (#2), it is not in the main building so quiet, very large with heating, cable tv and dvd and large windows. They gave us the Hola discount even though we'd booked through Hostelbookers (they don't update their availability on Hola as they just joined).

Disliked: We don't speak Spanish, no one else in the hostel really spoke English. Bit of a wierd atmosphere in common areas.

Liked: Nice spacious communal areas, with large patio and chairs outside. V. clean. Friendly staff....our laundry was done within a couple of hours! San telmo was also the area we found a lot to do in, so location was excellent as its right near the huge street market that happens on a sunday.

Disliked: V basic breakfast, just jam and bread, tea and cofee.
