Liked: Hostal America del Sur is clean, bright and inviting. The staff are exceptional and will do everything to help with local information and travel requirements. Breakfasts are superb. The steak house 50m round the corner is outstanding quality and easy on the wallet.

Disliked: Popular local's late night bar opposite gets noisy, as is the traffic. If you want a quiet night, book a dorm at the back.

Liked: Everything is clean The staff at the reception are very nice and helpfull, great smile. Perfect breakfest.

Disliked: the only things is that they should provide a locked room for our bags the day we are leaving, and the computers were always busy.

Liked: Clean rooms and common area. Breakfast was a nice bonus (and included fresh flowers on the tables!). Air conditioning. Some good restaurants in the immediate area.

Disliked: Room was right over courtyard, no fun when you're jetlagged and not among the people up partying and drinking. No female only dorm available - male roommates *snored* very loudly.

Liked: best hostel in BsAs. every time I come back i feel like home, the stuff is like a family. the most friendly and informative you'll meet in South America.

Liked: extremely helpful staff. Only hostel I have seen an elevator in! Good breakfast. Really nice ensuite bathrooms. Overall very slick operation.

Disliked: Kitchen was a bit small for the number of guests. We booked a Boca match through them and it felt like a rip off - we could have got cheaper elsewhere perhaps.

Liked: Chill atmosphere. The luggage storage (locker rental for 5 pesos/day) was great. I was able to leave my big backpack there while I did a side trip. Very secure compared to other places that just have one big storage room.

Disliked: Mostly couples and groups - a little harder to meet people if you're traveling alone. Not as clean as it could be. Bathroom was worn and moldy but the room overall was clean. Rooms aren't very soundproof - lots of noise from the street.

Liked: Clean, quite organized, nice breakfast.

Disliked: Very noisy at night for the rooms facing the patio. Charged me for a night i had to cancel because of flight misconnection.

Liked: The staff were really nice and helpful. It felt very safe and was cleaned every day. I loved the free Tango lesson that they organised despite having low numbers.

Disliked: Maybe it was just the people there when we went, but it diudn´t seem that sociable. It would help if all the tables were pusehd together so you are forced to all sit together, instead of groups sitting on separate tables.

Liked: Very clean, well thought out dorms, friendly staff

Disliked: Extremely noisy, impossible to get any sleep before 2am any night due to poor acoustics from bar. Security is very bad, they buzz anyone in, they charge $5 per day for a locker and the key for this is kept at reception, and they hand it out without checking who you are so that anyone from the street could access your stuff, same with key to dorm rooms. An electronic item of mine was stolen from the foyer when I left it for literally 1 minute.

Liked: San Telmo is a great neighbourhood with lots of character, and the hostel is clean with all the facilities you need.

Disliked: The hostel is a bit impersonal and feels more like a business than a friendly hostel. It also lacks character which is unfortunate given the neighbourhood it is in. Also the noise in the court yard is pretty loud until the early hours of the morning. Not all the people working there knew much about possible tours etc., although others were quite helpful.

Liked: Best Hostal I have stayed at all trip! More like a hotel but with all the benifits of hostel. Staff are great.

Disliked: The cleaner left our room unlocked 2 days in a row.

Liked: The enviroment is just like a Hotel, very comfortable and tidy. The staff really helps you with everything, and there's everything you need around the corner (subway, markets, bus, lan houses).

Disliked: The neighbourhood is a little dangerous at night if you go out alone.

Liked: Friendly knowledgeable staff helped with many requests. Kept luggage in locked room until room was ready. Good atmosphere and location. Clean.

Liked: Excellent dorm set up - 4 beds with ensuite separate shower and toilet; each bed has it's own electricity socket and reading lamp which is a welcome feature. Good location as San Telmo is a cool place to be. Lots of communal space.

Disliked: Says wifi works in the room but didn't work in ours. Can be noisy as night but so can pretty much anywhere in SA be!

Liked: The staff are all very friendly (and speak brilliant english) and helped us out planning the rest of our trip. You start to feel at home really quickly. Room was very clean I would definitely reccommend it

Liked: Staff were very helpful.Rooms clean.Easy location to visit all parts of the city.

Disliked: Watch out for rooms on the courtyard....VERY NOISY especially during the weekend!!
