Your Travel Guide to Amsterdam

Guide for Amsterdam

Pancakes. Bitterballen. Waffles. Ahh, isn’t that refreshing? We’re kicking off our Amsterdam guide with food that’ll tempt you there, rather than jumping straight to the cliché subject of coffee shops and the Red Light District – though oops, we’ve gone and done it now.

Sure these are part of Amsterdam’s cultural fabric, but there’s plenty more to the city. Visit the Rijksmuesum to see Rembrandt’s The Night Watch and a host of Dutch art from medieval times onwards, go market shopping in trendy Jordaan or take a tour of the Anne Frank House. For exploring, hire bikes or a boat to see the city by street or canal, or take a stroll round Vondelpark for people-watching on a summer evening.

Carry on reading our Amsterdam city guide to find out everything you need to know before you go, including tips for top-value hotels. Browse all our hotels in Amsterdam here to book one that’s best for you.

Customer Travel Tip: If you want to go out partying. It's best to joint a pub crawl because the group takes up most of the club and its simply just fun

Liked: There is so much culture and history in this city it's amazing. It should be known for its beauty rather than red light and coffee shops!

Disliked: That its known for red light.

Customer Travel Tip: Remember it is a capital city - goods aren't cheap. Take time to explore the city outside of the red light district, it really is a beautiful city. Bring comfortable shoes for walking in and enjoy the sights!

Liked: City buzz, many sites to see, easy to explore.

Disliked: Crazy cyclists, constantly having to watch valuables (was told pick pocketing was prominent)..
