Your Travel Guide to Paris

Guide for Paris

City of love; home to the world’s most beautiful art and a lip-licking food culture – all the clichés about Paris are true. What’s crazy is, this city surpasses the stories when you visit for real.

Cool areas like the Marais, Montmartre, Pigalle and Oberkampf tick boxes for your bar-hopping, shopping and café idling needs, and some of the world’s most famous sights are on your doorstep: the Louvre, Eiffel Tower and Champs Elysee. Explore it all by velib’ (the city’s public bike rental service) to feel like a true Parisian.

Carry on reading our Parisian City Guide to find out about the City of Light before you travel, including tips on the best hotels. Browse all our Hotels in Paris here to find one that suits your trip.

Customer Travel Tip: Try to avoid the tourist hotspots and go a few streets further. You'll avoid the crowds and get much better value for money.

Liked: Lots of places with "wow"-factor

Disliked: Dirty metros, high prices around tourist hotspots and high entrance fees.

Customer Travel Tip: The touristy shops and restaurants are very expensive in Paris but if you look around and get off the main tourist streets, there are a lot more reasonably priced and better places!

Liked: Paris is a beautiful city and somewhere everyone should go. Parisians get a lot of bad press about being rude to tourists but that's because a lot of people just automatically expect them to speak English. Make an effort to speak just a little bit of French and it will definitely be appreciated.

Disliked: There are a lot of touts about, trying to sell things that you really don't want and can be a bit forceful. .
