Customer Travel Tip: Plan ahead. For example, I planned to be at Gatwick 3 hours ahead of my flight home. Purchased my ticket in advance on the web for a non-stop train which would have got me there in 20 minutes. When I arrived at London Bridge station, the train was cancelled at the last minute. The next train (30 minutes later) was a milk-run with 11 stops and took nearly an hour.

Liked: The best theatre in the English-speaking world. History is all around you. For younger people, there is plenty of night-life. Great shopping opportunities. Excellent variety of food choices. For those of us on a budget, most, but not all, major museums have free admission.

Disliked: The Underground can be jammed at times. Bus travel is VERY slow because of traffic congestion. Strikes can frequently disrupt services. While I was there, several railways were warning of planned rotating strikes which would affect trains to/from Gatwick airport. Fortunately, they were announced in advance, so you can make alternate plans.
