The Weather in Melbourne

Melbourne generally has agreeable weather all year round, with hot summers and milder winters. The best times to visit Melbourne are between March and May and September and November, where temperatures are pleasant and crowds are moderate.

Spring (September-November) temperatures in Melbourne are mild and usually range from 10°C to 20°C. Showers are not uncommon and October is typically the wettest month of the year.

Melbourne summers (December-February) are warm and sunny with temperatures ranging from 21°C to 34°C. But heat waves are common and temperatures can exceed 40°C. High humidity however is rare with cooling afternoon breezes coming from Port Phillip Bay.

Temperatures cool down in Autumn (March-May), but remain mild. Temperatures range from 11°C to 19°C and Autumn is generally considered to be the most pleasant season in Melbourne.

Winters (June-August) in Melbourne are usually cool with some cloudy and foggy days. Temperatures can range from 2°C to 19°C and snow is very rare. It can get chilly at night, but winters are great for cheaper airfare and avoiding massive crowds of tourists.
