Overview to Zambia: Travel Guide and Tourist Information
The serenely beautiful country of Zambia is one of Africa's stand-out attractions. Whether it's the stunning waterfalls or the host of countrywide festivals that enchants its visitors, Zambia is truly breathtaking.
Most of Zambia’s wetland savannas have been dedicated to environmental conservation and related ecotourism schemes. The animal kingdom roams (and roars!) freely here and there are plenty of safari options that don’t have a negative impact on the ecosystem.
Safaris in Kafue National Park, for example, can be negotiated from a canoe instead of the traditional 4x4 machinery. The park is one of the largest in the world, and provides some of the best safari going – especially since it remains largely overlooked by mass tourism.
Away from Kafue, the South Luanga National Park also provides notable game safari. Based in the hard-to-access and undeveloped Eastern Province, it functions as a sanctuary for the animals as well as an opportunity for visitors to sneak a peak at their kingdom in its majesty.
Zambia is not all about the safari however; in fact, far from it – this is a country for adrenalin junkies as much as for nature lovers. The area around Victoria Falls, to the south of the country, is predictably rife with adventure prospects.
Apart from the sheer spectacle of the world’s largest waterfall, visitors can swim around the base or kayak, whitewater raft and even bungee jump. By harnessing its amazing natural landscape in this way, Zambia has become a truly magnificent travel destination.
