Getting Around Cardiff: Transport Tips and Advice

Transport in Cardiff

If you’re flying into Cardiff International Airport, you can either get a taxi to the city center (from outside the arrivals hall) or go by rail. A shuttle bus from the airport will connect you with a train traveling into the city center. There’s also the X91bus which travels between the airport and Cardiff Central Station. The service is hourly Monday to Saturday and every 2 hours on a Sunday.

Getting to Cardiff from the rest of the UK is easy. Many national rail lines stop at Cardiff Central Rail Station, although you will want to book in advance to avoid high ticket prices. A generally cheaper (though more time-consuming) alternative is traveling by coach.

The best way to explore the center of Cardiff is by foot. However, if your feet tire out or you want to head farther afield, there is a frequent and affordable bus system which spans the city. Keep in mind that services stop at 11pm and are sparse on Sundays, though.
