Humpback Whale
The Great Maui Whale Festival - USA

This annual festival in February celebrates the passing of the endangered humpback whale along the coast of Hawaii. The whales can often put on spectacular shows in the sea at this time - when their activity in the area is at its peak - offering nature-lovers a unique experience.
It’s also dedicated to the preservation of these marvelous giants of the sea. As such, there are various activities which are designed to educate visitors about the mammals and encourage more conservation work.
Celebratory whale watches, as well as talks and walks, are all part of the festivities. Sponsored by the Pacific Whale Foundation, the whole event is an effort to inform people about the importance of looking after and protecting these huge creatures.
