The Chicago Blues Festival began in 1984 and celebrates the city's musical heritage. This event is now regarded as an important civic institution and city officials begin organizing the annual event as soon as the last one finishes.
Sunnyland Slim, Jimmy Walker, Willie Dixon and Honey Boy Edwards have all performed and are now firmly part of the festival's folklore. Other memorable moments have included Chuck Berry sharing a stage with Keith Richards.
