Things to Do in Switzerland

The Matterhorn sits on the border between Italy and Switzerland, with each of its four sides (roughly) facing one of the four points on the compass. Overlooking the remarkable Zmutt Valley, it’s been luring mountaineers and sightseers for centuries.

Switzerland’s foremost art museum, the Kunsthaus, displays an impressive array of impressionist and expressionist works. There’s a large Edvard Munch collection, as well as the odd Rothko on display.

The complex of pools at Yverdon allows the visitor to bathe in warm natural water that, due to its high sulfuric content, has various healing properties. Indoor and outdoor pools allow you to choose the setting of your relaxing dip.

With the seat of the Olympic Committee in Lausanne, this museum has a great stash of Olympic-orientated material at its disposal. There are hours of archive footage on display, along with various other paraphernalia from the games.

Geneva spreads out on the shores of its lake, proving a mixture of playboy’s paradise and a magnet for travelers. The famous Jet d’Eau forces a plume of water 140 meters high which can be experienced from afar - or up close during a rather wet boat ride.
