Things to Do in San Sebastian

The beaches at San Sebastian are some of the best in Spain. The weather’s not too hot and the sea is shallow enough to be nicely warm during the summer. The picks include; La Concha (the local beach), Ondaretta (a quieter stretch of sand), and La Playa de Zurriola (the surfer’s choice).

Labyrinthine cobbled streets, tapas bars, the Basilica de Santa Mariá, San Vicente church, the Plaza de la Constitucion – each goes into making the Old Quarter a perfect place to spend a chilled day or three. Enjoy!

Two gentle mountains offer exhilarating views out across San Sebastian and the Bay of Biscay; Monte Urgull and Monte Igüeldo. Walk up the former, then scale back down and take a funicular up the latter.

San Sebastian’s film festival is probably the most important in Spain. Held every year for 9 days in September, it mixes screenings with exhibitions and concerts to create a great, all-round experience for film buffs and novices alike.
